The Presidential prophecy- An update on Charlie Johnston

A triumphant Trump inaugurated amidst some bold predictions
Update Jan 1, 2018: Concerning Mr. Johnston's alleged prophecies and private revelations, from early on this writer often commented that time and events (or lack of events) will clearly reveal whether Charlie's prophecies are authentic, or not.  In other words, time will tell.

Well, as of today (January 1, 2018) time has clearly revealed that Mr. Johnston's numerous prophecies have ALL been shown to be completely false, most notably his predictions concerning the Presidential election, the great worldwide "Storm" which he foretold would bring global economic collapse and civil strife, toppling governments throughout the globe, war with political Islam resulting with the mass conversion of most Muslims, then a war with China, and generalized  global chaos resulting in 26 million dead, all culminating with the miraculous "Rescue" apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to all of humanity, all of which was prophesied by Charlie to occur by the end of 2017.

In conclusion, since Charlie's prophecies have now all been shown to be completely false, he joins the list of recent failed visionaries whose stories have been highlighted on this site, such as "Locutions to the World" and "Maria Divine Mercy", and together they provide a strong cautionary warning for all of us in regards to purported visionaries and mystics of past and present, urging us to be very cautious and prudent in our discernment concerning such persons,  reaffirming the statement and warning of St Paul of the Cross, the founder of the Passionists and great mystic himself, who once stated that 9 out of 10 purported visionaries are false.  Perhaps this estimation from St Paul of the Cross is a bit high, but then again perhaps not.  -Glenn Dallaire

UPDATE, January 20, 2017:
With the successful inauguration of President Donald Trump comes the unfulfilled conclusion to both parts of the alleged angelic “Presidential prophecy” of Charlie Johnston, namely that Obama will not finish his term and the next leader will not come from the political system (ie.-not elected), as detailed in the article below. It was a bold two-part prophecy that has now ended in a double fail.

When one claims to be a prophet of God, one’s life and most especially one’s prophecies are automatically held for scrutiny before the court of public opinion. In this court of public opinion, the preponderance of the evidence is what often initially sways one’s opinion, yet there eventually comes to pass certain very important matters for discernment, such as key prophecies, which depending on their eventual turnout, will considerably authenticate, or invalidate, the purported mission and message of such persons.  And when one compares the alleged angelic ‘Presidential prophecy’ against today’s successful inauguration, the conclusions to be drawn are self-evident.

With the above being said, one would strongly suspect that today’s inauguration, which by all appearances completely invalidates the first formal public prophecy of Charlie Johnston, will likely be one of these aforementioned key matters for discernment that will have a decisive impact in judging his purported prophetic mission and message for a good many people.  For if a prophet is judged by his prophecies as the saying goes, then today’s failure of the purported angelic ‘Presidential prophecy’,  as detailed in the article below,  will for many persons surely bring with it an unfavorable judgment in what concerns the prophetic mission of Charlie Johnston.

For in his blog post "The Election...and Other Potential Triggers" Charlie writes:
"...If, next January, Barack Obama peacefully hands over the reins of power to Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, I will declare myself unreliable and go away. But it will not happen that way, for God has appointed that this be a sign to you to fortify you to trust Him and choose the ordinary way to follow Him through the most frightening year for the globe in history."

And again, concerning today’s inauguration, for his part Charlie has also declared in his post entitled “Election day” on November 7th that:
“…If, on January 20, Obama peacefully transfers power to either Trump or Clinton, I will declare myself unreliable and retire into silence.”

With this pledge, one finds that today’s inauguration will bring with it not only the end of Obama’s term, but also the end of Charlie Johnston’s public blogging, speaking engagements, and future predictions, at least for a time, though the loss of credibility from today’s events will likely be permanent.

And I say "for a time" simply because of Charlie's recent comments on his blog concerning the possibility of today's failure of his "Presidential prophecy", wherein he recently speaks about the possibility of being "recalled" by God into a silent, private period for some sort of remedial prophetic discernment re-training "for a time".

Nevertheless, for those who in good faith spread amongst their family, friends and coworkers Charlie's prediction concerning "Obama not finishing his term/next leader not coming from the political process", and who are now left feeling much like "the boy who cried wolf", one can only presume that any possible future prophetic predictions from Charlie will be given little or no credence, if not outright opposition by many who have followed his work and message, as is perhaps justifiably merited by today's developments. In the end, it is up to Archbishop Aquila of Denver to make any formal judgments concerning Charlie Johnston's private revelations.

As for this writer, I can say that while I have always been reluctant to highlight purported LIVING mystics and visionaries, I am even more so now after these recent events.

May God bless the United States of America, and all of humanity.

Charlie Johnston during a recent FOCUS TV interview
The final days for the possible fulfillment of a purported Angelic prophecy

By: Glenn Dallaire

Jan. 7, 2017 -Vigil of the Epiphany
Many readers of this website are familiar with the original article that I wrote back in January 2015 entitled  "Charlie Johnston -An alleged prophet with a critically important message for humanity".  In it I discussed at length Charlie's purported prophetic mission and message, along with a short biography of his life. And for the past two years it has been one of the most popular articles on this website.

Additionally, when the Archdiocese of Denver came out with a Statement in March 2016 concerning Mr. Johnston I published an article here discussing it.

The Presidential prophecy
In the past week, the comments beneath that original article have exploded (there are now currently a total of 770 comments), as has my email inbox, with most everyone commenting specifically on the angelic prophecy allegedly given to Charlie, which I have named "The Presidential prophecy":

"What I was told in the Spring of 2008 was that Barack Obama would win that year's election, that he would not finish his full term, and that the next stable national leader would not come from the political system."

The obvious reason for all of the recent attention to this specific alleged angelic prophecy is the upcoming scheduled Presidential Inauguration scheduled for this January 20th--just 2 weeks away from this writing. For his part, just yesterday Charlie published an article entitled "A Decisive Conundrum" which addresses this matter, in part.

This particular prophecy is the first of a series of alleged angelic prophesies concerning the world that are to occur mostly this year (2017). And since we are delving into this subject of alleged "Angelic" messages given to Charlie, it should be pointed out that the Angel whom has purportedly visited Charlie from childhood is the Archangel Gabriel, as was specifically revealed to Charlie during one of the "visitations". The other predictions that Charlie insists upon are highlighted in his article entitled "Go Forth". In it Charlie reveals eight worldwide events that are said to occur::

"I only have eight public prophecies that I insist on. Only the visible, miraculous Rescue by Our Lady, the Immaculate Conception in late 2017, is time sensitive. Five things must happen between now and the Rescue, but can happen at any time during that period. They are:

– The continued toppling of governments throughout the world, including that of the U.S. The toppling of a government does not mean the nation shall fall.

– The confrontation with and fall of political Islam.

– The mass conversion of most Muslims

– The confrontation between the Judeo-Christian world and the current government of China.

– The alliance between Russia and the U.S. to lead the Judeo-Christian world to endure the confrontation with China.

-Then, after the 5 things above comes the miraculous "Rescue" through the Immaculate Heart of Mary sometime in late 2017.

Then there are two prophecies that happen shortly after the Rescue. They are the unification of the faithful into one flock under one shepherd and the building and location of the Shrine of thanksgiving for the Rescue on Mount Meeker in Colorado.

Together these predicted events constitute for humanity what Charlie calls "The Storm"--a series of events which he states is already well underway. As of today (January 7, 2017), the most obvious observation concerning the prophesies above is that time is really running out for them to all happen before the miraculous Rescue in late 2017. Thus, from an intellectually reasoned perspective, it is probably readily apparent to many that such predictions are already a failure, given the time-frames involved for such things to occur in "real" time. But then, who really knows just yet? For God is not limited by our human constraints and He is always full of surprises.

It should be noted that the "Presidential prophecy" is NOT part of the eight public prophesies that Charlie insists upon. I don't know what bearing that may have, if any, in the upcoming days and weeks.

"God has appointed that this be a sign to you"
In his article "The Election...and Other Potential Triggers" Charlie writes:
"If, next January, Barack Obama peacefully hands over the reins of power to Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, I will declare myself unreliable and go away. But it will not happen that way, for God has appointed that this be a sign to you to fortify you to trust Him and choose the ordinary way to follow Him through the most frightening year for the globe in history."

Of course for now the big question at this point is whether or not the purported angelic prophecy concerning Obama not finishing his term/next leader not coming from the election process will come to pass as foretold in the remaining two weeks before the scheduled Presidential inauguration on January 20th. And the obvious implication in the opinion of many people is that this prophecy is key in determining whether Charlie is truly an authentic prophet, or not. For as the saying goes "A prophet is judged by his prophecies", or as Scripture tells us:

"And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not fear him." (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).

For his part, Charlie has stated numerous times that if this particular prophecy concerning Obama not finishing his term were to fail, with the presidency successfully transitioned to Donald Trump, that he will post one last post on his blog, then go away:
Charlie Johnston during a presentation in July 2016
charliej373 says:
"If there is a peaceful transition of power from Obama to Trump, I will go away. If there is not, be not afraid, God has a plan."

or again:
 charliej373 says:
December 17, 2016 at 2:54 pm
"Now, as I have said, if the inauguration goes on without incident, I will go away. "

or again:
charliej373 says:
"Certainly, if we have a normal inauguration a month from now, I will retire from the field, for that prophecy will have been objectively wrong. I take full responsibility for that. But it won’t change what you are called to do.

Noting that I do and will take responsibility, your standard would require you to dismiss St. Joan of Arc as a false prophet for the times she erred on saying how the battle would go – and many of the Old Testament prophets who were often off on their timing, sometimes by years. I do not say this to try to justify any error on my part. I strongly urge you to examine yourself and consider what God calls you to. But yep, a month from now if we have a normal inauguration, you can give me a big old thumbs down."

charliej373 says:
January 8, 2017 at 9:21 pm
"If the inauguration comes off, I will leave the public scene, because that is what it means to honorably take full responsibility. "

And so, even though this "Presidential prophecy" is not one of the eight public prophecies that Charlie insists upon, according to several statements he has made he does believe that if it fails to come to pass as foretold, this would be significant enough to merit and declare himself "unreliable" and "leaving the scene". Time will soon tell how things turn out. For his part, Charlie has "laid it on the line", so to speak. We need only wait, watch and pray. Events, or the lack thereof, will reveal the truth concerning Charlie's purported private revelations.

Given all of the recent interest in this particular prophecy as of late, along with the popularity of the original article here on this website concerning Charlie Johnston, I thought I would publish this new article so that those interested can comment on this matter freely and directly here. As always, all comments are published immediately on this website, without moderation. I only ask that commentators be charitable and considerate in their comments.

Jean-The Hawk,
I am simply talking about what he has shared with us- everything on his site. There is wealth of knowledge and very solid teachings there! That is the gift I was speaking of. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Hello Snowy,

This may surprise you but I actually agree with much of Charlie's assessment of the moral breakdown in the world, and believe it or not, I actually agree with much of his politics. I suspect that most of us commenting on Glenn's site, as well as those commenting on TNRS, are pretty traditional (or better stated Orthodox) Catholics. We believe in the teaching of the Pope and Magisterium. I doubt anyone here takes issue with trusting in God.

However about two years ago Charlie laid out for us in striking blow-by-blow detail what would happen...a failed US election, a Regent running the USA, the complete worldwide economic collapse and a return to a barter system, tanks rolling down the streets (see "Whatcha gonna do when they come for you"), people being rounded into FEMA camps, World War III with the US and Russia against China, and a world in crisis that is unprecedented since the creation of man. Charlie said this is what the angels told him and he has told us true.

The fact is believing in private revelation is not required of Catholics. What's more, Charlie's Archbishop told us not to put stock in Charlie's prophecies. It would seem to me that since none of his prophecies have come true, I doubt God will hold people accountable for failing to believe false prophecies.

Hello Snowy:

This was your exact quote:
"Is God sending Mary to rescue us? Of course He is, we have 2000 years of her doing it! I see that it is already happening now in earnest, many are called, few are chosen because few say yes to God... either we are "All in" or we are not. Charlie said yes. He is simply living and sharing with us the GIFT he was given. Will Mary appear in the way Charlie has stated? I sure hope so and I believe so because the world is in trouble and many souls are being lost to Heaven. He is being obedient to God and his calling ... and to the Church, which despite what I read here in the comments, has neither silenced nor condemned him."

Your answer:
"I am simply talking about what he has shared with us- everything on his site. There is wealth of knowledge and very solid teachings there! That is the gift I was speaking of"

Thanks for your answer and it is out of context with your original statement, so I don't buy it.

Regarding North Korea:
Military analyst and expert Charles R Smith says you can sleep at night knowing that there WILL BE NO WAR WITH NORTH KOREA. Charles says that if Kim Jong Un pushes it too far, he will be replaced by the Chinese, China has already cut off some oil. He says the North Korean army is not ready for war. He says the Chinese are intimidated by Trump because he is unpredictable and don't know what he will do and it bothers them so Kim will be put in line or replaced. He also said that this has been going on with the North Koreans for 30 years, which contradicts Charlie's angel who said it broke out in earnest in 2008 or thereabouts. I'll take Charles R Smith's word on this over Charlie's angel.

Regarding ISIS:
I mentioned to Charlie over 1 year ago that if the Russians didn't get involved in the Syrian conflict, Syria would have fallen ( and subsequently ISIS would have prospered )- he scoffed at the idea the Russians were doing anything. Ironically, it's those same Russians who have helped destroy ISIS that Charlie should be thankful for and sunsequently making him look good on saying ISIS will collapse.

I honestly don't think Charlie has a good grasp of international affairs and neither does his angel.

Now here is an opportunity for discernment. Snowy Owl said: --begin quoted text-- Bemused and Quite Amused, just something to consider here... but what if you are wrong? The Bible is literally filled with what you are laughing at. What Charlie says is true. --end quoted text--

Let's end-game that first question, "what if you are wrong?". Well, what of it? Bemused is correct in the reply --begin quoted text-- The fact is believing in private revelation is not required of Catholics. Take a moment to understand what that means. It means that even if Bemused and Quite Amused are wrong, there is zero negative implication to the state of their souls. That is because they are in the same standing with the Church after hearing/reading CJ's alleged locutions - and disbelieving them - as before ever having known about CJ. That is because the Church has made it clear that it will not "hold bound" those who disbelieve private revelation. Since the Church instead "holds loosth" those who disbelieve in private revelation, you are required as a matter of faith to believe that their disbelief is also "held loosth" in heaven. In other words, your professed faith requires you to regard the state of their souls as no different than your own, who happen to believe in CJ's alleged locutions.

You see, Snowy, we believe your soul is unaffected by your belief, but we get the distinct impression that you do not hold us in the same regard with respect to our disbelief. If I'm incorrect in this assertion, fine. But if I'm correct (and I suspect I am; otherwise, why would you have asked "what if you are wrong?") then the next logical question is, what has become of your duty of obedience to what the Church teaches about private revelation?

In the next sentence, Snowy Owl said: --begin quoted text-- The Bible is literally filled with what you are laughing at. --end quoted text-- This statement is classic "appeal to authority" logical fallacy, even if it were true, and no person with a functional intellect ought to take it seriously, because what Charlie writes about his alleged locutions is not Biblical public revelation of the Word of God.

As it happens, it is false. Find me a comparable place in the Bible where a prophet speaks definitively about a particular prophecy (as definitively as CJ did about the "sign" locution as having come from the mouth of the angel Gabriel - that Obama would not finish his term) and then later, when it fails to come to fruition, the prophet backtracks and claims that he must have misinterpreted that which he initially claimed "was told" to him "specifically." Good luck with that.

I also have found it interesting that so many have tried to defend CJ's fail as a case of the mitigation of prayers. But I find no evidence on the TNRS blog that anyone there was praying for Obama to stay in office until noon of inauguration day and then step aside for Trump to take over as is our tradition. On the contrary, there is a lot of evidence that CJ's supporters at TNRS were rooting for the "Obama will not finish his term, but will resign in disgrace" alleged locution to come true, because they insisted that CJ had "told us true" and likely because they shared CJ's well documented political contempt for Obama.

I'm praying for you too, Snowy Owl.

I don't know who is who here so I will just leave it up to you to decide to whom this comment is directed. I see there is no complaint about the intimidating demands on Snowy to answer the questions posed by Anonymous. There has been complaint about my repeated request for this thread to be shut down. BTW I see Glenn has again skirted a direct reply to my own question as to his knowledge of the authorship of the offensive posts.

I was totally unconvinced by the "clarification" of identity to which we were directed. Firstly, why bother to clear up. It beggars belief that this controversy had only just been discovered. This so called attempt to clarify is simply alarm at being uncovered. I understand that fear. The content and style of this interdict echoes those demands by Anonymous to "Knock it off".

Then we have BeMused and Quite Bemused whose style and content also reflect those of Anonymous in their mocking tone directed at Charlie and his words.

Then we have a demand for an apology from me. As soon as this is posted Kevin posts his denial and his demand to immediately cease and desist. It is no coincidence that it was L.Spinelli who came to Kevin's defence. Why should that be?

Now surprise surprise both the demand for an apology and the clarifcation have been withdrawn probably out of fear that they would draw attention to the author and a realization that people are on to the tactics.

All that having been said I have a sneaking concern that beneath all the subterfuge and rhetoric lies a deeper problem. It has been pointed out to me by one far better qualified in these fields than I am - although I have passed papers on clinical psychology - that an illness or condition may be indicated by the form and content of this thread. It may be that obsessive and compulsive malicious elements together with the unstable polarity and the insensitivity of psychosis displayed on this thread may need more considered approach. If any of this applies you are not at fault.

In fact, any of this differential applies to anyone on this forum I ask your forgiveness and pray for your full recovery in Body, Soul and Spirit.

That having been said I must admit old Kevin gave me a laugh in addressing me in such erudite and academic terms. I had to look up the meaning of his description of my comments as bolivating. Good word Kev. Oh sorry, I remember from another forum that you did not like the familiar address being used by those who were not close friends with you. You must have known me from there. I was given quite a bad name by the owner with whom I am now on better terms. I got kicked off around the same time as you removed all your comments from that site having fallen out with the moderators. Oh - just remind me what it is you have done to your comments here and now.

Oh yes - you have removed them.

@Joe Crozier,
Today's Spirit Daily article deals with obsession and fits you and some other Charlie followers to a 'T.'

"We hear so much about "possession," but give little heed to "obsession" -- something that afflicts all of us, from time to time.

In these "ss" words you can hear the hiss of the snake.

Do you have obsessions? Have you ever tallied them -- dug deeply in prayer and sought to discern trends of thought that may have been planted by the enemy? What do you think of too much? Have you tried to temper it -- take custody over your thoughts?

There are times things are constant thoughts because they are constant problems or threats and then there are other times when there are things we must but can't get out of our heads. It may be about another person (love is an antidote here), it may be about a material item (or, to use the word in a different way, a material "possession"), it may be a concern -- one that causes us anxiety.

Along with confusion, anxiety can be a first marker of diabolic harassment.

Strange obsessions there are -- with things, with celebrities, with music, with looks, with fashion, with TV shows, with sports (for sure!), with politics. What do you think too much about -- think and rethink and think about again, burning a hole in your cerebrum?

Most major criminals (note, for instance, the Las Vegas shooter) are endlessly fixated on something that drives them to distraction and then violent focus.

With the rest of us, obsession is at best a waste of time.

Prayer often stops it -- expurgates.

"Many people become obsessed with pornography, sex, or sexual perversion," writes Roberts Liardon in Haunted Houses, Ghosts, and Demons. "Some become obsessed with the occult or New Age teachings. Young people may become obsessed with certain types of music. It's possible to be obsessed with money. Whatever you can think of, it's possible for someone to be obsessed with it."

Very frequently, it's an obsession to do with other people -- relationships, slights. And while on the surface obsession seems simply like a niggling psychological glitch, it can draw darkness and this is where spirits like to reside: in the dark.

Demonic spirits can enter this way and take up residence in a home, a neighborhood, over a community, and even over a nation. They also can hold sway over religious groups and organizations. All it takes is: obsession...

Joe,
Kevin Symonds has stated above that he has not been publishing comments on this blog, so lets take his word for it. Continuing to accuse him of posting comments here after he has stated that he has not been doing so is obviously uncalled for and disrespectful.

As for Ms. Spinelli, while I have not met her personally, we have occasionally corresponded via email on a variety of matters going back several years, so I personally have no reason to doubt whom she says she is.

My suggestion here is that you and others simply stick to discussing the subject at hand, using facts and quotes to support your statements and opinions, and forget about attempting to discern the identities of various individual commenters here, which gets one nowhere in the actual discussion and discernment process. Neither does statements such as:
..."Something stinks on this thread and its not me. Have you boys and girls had a shower and brushed your teeth?"

Not to single you out Joe but you seem to post only your own personal opinions, and you rarely ever use documented facts or quotes to support your beliefs or statements. My suggestion then is why not use statements from Charlie and/or the Church to help to support your position? This would be helpful for others to understand better and respond to where you are coming from.

I endeavor to be very tolerant towards everyone who posts here, and have never blocked anyone from posting on any of my websites, so again let's simply keep to the topic and hand using facts and quotes to support out positions, and avoid character accusations, this way everyone will benefit from the discernment process/discussion.

Joe, what does "passed papers on clinical psychology" mean? What are your credentials in that field?

I don't believe that Charlie Johnston and his fantasies are worth this much time and angst. If his followers CHOOSE to continue believing him, then pray for them and let it go. By his fruits, you shall know him. Charlie's fruits are a pile of unrealized "prophecies" and a group of people led by a woman who chases prophets like a bad lawyer chases ambulances. This lengthy thread is chock full of logical, theological, and practical reasons NOT to believe Charlie Johnston's fantasies, but we can't discern for others. If his followers want to blindly follow Charlie to hell, then that's their choice.

I never heard of passing papers. Maybe it's like passing a stone. I'm no philosophy expert but citing your credentials to prove your point might be an appeal to authority logical fallacy, where you fancy yourself as the authority.

Jackisback said...

Anon at 12:13 PM,

I agree with your sentiment for the most part. My take differs only slightly. It seems to me that there is a chance, however remote, for unity in the body of Christ (aka the Church or the People of God) between the skeptics of alleged private revelation and the believers.

I think you're right about us being unable to persuade a blind follower of CJ to engage in more due diligence in discernment. But if some CJ followers are still here, even if their only goal is to try to persuade us to become believers in CJ's alleged locutions, there is in my opinion an outside chance that through discussion of the ways in which we test CJ's so-called messages, that they might have an "aha" moment, and realize that we are not the "bad guys" in this dispute. That is especially true if the CJ follower takes the Archbishop of Denver's advice seriously (which CJ himself has recommended) - to "put more faith in God rather than a prediction," which at the end of the day, is one of the major bases for our skepticism.

Of course, CJ followers claim they are doing that too, yet, as has been documented time and again on this thread, they defend the predictions. So there's that, plus the requisite duty to attempt to bring back one's fellow Catholics from being led astray by those predictions, notwithstanding the fact that they think we are the ones being led astray.

I agree, it is a conundrum. I agree with you that these discussions are not worth it if they produce angst, but for myself (only) they are worth some of my time. They are certainly not worth the time, if it becomes an obsession. (Hat tip to Anonymous Jones for the interesting perspective on obsession.)

Every one of Charlie Johnston's fantasies have proved totally false. That's 100 percent wrong. Why is this fraud being given any attention, off of which he feeds. Listen to the Church's magisterium. We don't need Charlie to tell us the world is a messed up and dangerous place. Look at the nightly news. TAKE THE NEXT RIGHT STEP and add Charlie and his failed delusions to the dust bin of history. This side show, "TNRS" which has become a cult, has endured far too long. Charlie, have enough honor to disappear.

Charlie has had his, completely undeserved, fifteen minutes of fame. He shouldn't have had that at all. But, people are gullible and needy, and are seeking someone to put their faith in. Their misplaced energy should be placed in Jesus, the Sacraments, and Holy Scripture. Regrettably, good ole Charlie preys upon these needy souls to pump up his ego and in promotion of his own agenda. We don't need Charlie to tell us to assist others. We also don't need Charlie to tell us that the world is a crazy and volatile place. Thank you Captain obvious. Charles, have the class, honor and dignity to retire from the scene, permanently. You didn't deserve the fifteen minutes of fame - at all. Be grateful for that and vanish!

Jack is Back,
I appreciate your response to my post. Reading your posts on this thread has definitely not been a waste of time, in my opinion. I understand that some of Charlie's followers may come here to learn and discern, but I tend to think that most of them are like Joe Crazier and Snowy Oil -- stiff-necked and uncharitable toward those who don't believe Charlie's "prophecies." I travelled to Garabandal in May, 2000, following a religious scholar who predicted, from his studies of the visions, that the Virgin Mary would appear there on May 13, 2000. She didn't. Our group then travelled to Lourdes to take the baths, praying especially for a cure for one particular person in our party. It didn't happen. When I compare Charlie's conduct with that disappointed but prayerful and loving group of pilgrims, however, his arrogance gives him away as a fraud. Of all the pilgrims that I met on my journey in 2000, none was arrogant or insulting. None of them belittled anyone. None of them was sharp-tongued or boastful. By his fruits, you shall know him.

"... When heavenly beings use normal language, they are playful with it. Their use of language seamlessly incorporates plain speech, figurative speech, symbolic images, double meanings and layers of meaning."
-------

I personally am thinking that the above statement from Charlie is seemingly contradictory to the Scriptures, because when we look through the various angelic appearances in the Gospels and in the Old Testament we find that the angels speak very plainly and matter a factly---for example if we look at the Angel Gabriel's message to the Virgin Mary (Annunciation), and also the Angels message to the Shepherds after the Birth of Jesus, and also the Archangel Raphael's messages and directives to Tobit, just to name a few.

So when reflecting on the Scriptures I personally can't recall any instances of heavenly beings "seamlessly incorporating plain speech, figurative speech, symbolic images, double meanings and layers of meaning."

I only see them speaking plainly and simply in the Scriptures.
Thoughts?

Glenn, good point on how angels communicate in the scriptures. Here's a list I googled if anyone wants to read for themselves. I don't know which translation this comes from.

Glenn, that's a point I hadn't considered...namely in the scriptures the other worldly beings, at least the ones sent by God, didn't talk in riddles. I suppose die hard followers of Charlie could counter that God is not limited to communicating His will to man today in the same way as He has in the past. In other words, God is above His own laws.

Hi Everyone

Get read for a spot of bolivating.

Now lets see where are we? Oh yea - Charlie is a con man and Joe Crozier is a nasty old troll with a big log in his eye.

We are back to that old chestnut of me telling you that my main purpose here is not to try to convince anyone that Charlie is worth listening to but to express my utter abhorrence of so much calumny and character assassination being tolerated in the name of freedom of speech on a Catholic blog. Again I say it is not the criticism of Charlie but the relentless, malicious, cruel and unusual way in which he is criticised that causes concern. This is totally unwarranted. Glenn says I should cite examples but I would end up by citing the whole thread.

The truth sometimes hurts but it seems that many - including myself - do not comprehend its full implication and will not understand until we experience the education of our offense in The Warning. I daresay that only then will we be in a position to fully repent of our offenses against God and in particular in our failures to exercise charity towards our neighbour. Like everyone here I stand in need of correction and I fear the truth of that correction will hurt greatly.

The seers of Garabandal say that practicing Catholics and those who have done their best to prepare for The Warning will fare better. In trying to stand at Charlie's side while he is lashed by your accusations I am trying in my own small way to help you see that what you are doing is wrong, very wrong. I am not saying that Charlie is right (although he may well be). I am saying that the way you are treating him is wrong. It is an affront to Christian Charity. In this way I am trying to carry the message of Garabandal and help people prepare for the Warning. It seems, however, that this attempt at help is neither solicited nor wanted. It may not even be my place to try to help in this way. If I have over stepped the mark I apologise and ask your forgiveness.

Those who oppose and persecute Charlie here are probably as convinced that they are doing God's work as I am that they are not. Glenn admits there is a lack of charity towards Charlie on this thread. As ever it is a question of discernment but also of perspective. Perspective depends on the place from where you view. Like a criminal record it can suggest a lack of reliable witness. If some one has a long record of antagonism against Charlie then perhaps their opinion should be considered with their prejudice in mind. This is why I am concerned with the identity behind comments.

continued from Joe Crozier 2.09 Oct 25

Glenn proudly proclaims that his site is not moderated and that comments made by the same person under different names should be tolerated no matter what agenda drives these comments. Perhaps it is time for a change in policy. That is not my call. It seems to me however that Glenn, like the rest of the world, bows before the golden calf of choice which has usurped the place of principle in favour of expediency. It seems that on MotC the right to choose (to publish) tops the responsibilities of duty, justice and charity. The right to choose displaces the Catholicity of MotC and replaces it with self -righteousness rather than the righteousness of Faith. As with pro-life issues the right to choose may consider facts but ignore the truth. In the end the truth is crucified - like Charlie.

So what is the truth about Charlie? Charlie says that he has been given a mission from heaven to hearten the faithful, to defend the faith and to defend the faithful. He says we can all enjoy a share in this mission by first acknowledging God in everything, by then taking the next right step and thus being a sign of hope for others. This is not new. It is simply the message of Christianity expressed in a way that is personal to Charlie. This is what he has been taught and what he has been instructed to pass on. This and not any prophesy or political insight lie at the heart of his mission.

Along the way Charlie has perceived that he is privileged with being able to communicate directly with an angel. Neither is such a perception new nor is it unique in the history of The Church. Charlie has no hidden agenda. We all know about his past and its imperfections. He is one of us. he has no reason to lie. But his very humanity does provide excuse for his error. Charlie has fully admitted to his error and moved on. Sometimes people get it wrong. It is in our nature.

In my student days while attending an autopsy as part of pathology the professor informed us that at one time 60% of diagnoses were found post mortem to be wrong. He continued to say that this corroborated well with the 40% pass mark for medical students of that time. So the doctors of yesteryear could be wrong in 60% of their examination and still be awarded a medical degree. Horrendous I know, but we still ended up with many fine, caring doctors. Getting it right all the time is not a prerequisite for authenticity or integrity. Some years ago I attended a conference of spinal surgeons where one professor told us that currently he needed to inform his medical students that by the end of their first year 50% of their lecture material would be out of date. Each year I myself attend ongoing professional development courses. We all need ongoing education. Charlie is no exception and he is the first to admit this.

Charlie has clearly stated he is neither a seer nor a soothsayer. If he ever aspired to these roles I would tell him not to give up his day job!

Round and round in circles we go, saying the same things, making the same arguments, accusations over and over and over again. All of this was said about CJ in January if not prior. Time to bury this thread, pray for CJ and his “followers” and go volunteer at a charity, pray the Office or anything much more productive, less obsessive and repetitive.

Compare these two quotations side-by-side:

1. From Glenn's blog thread titled God's Warning for humanity has been delayed; The time of Mercy has been prolonged: To St. Faustina, Jesus stated, "I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of sinners. But woe to them if they do not recognize this time of My visitation." [Diary of St. Faustina, # 1160]

2. From Fr. Mark Slatter's article at Catholic Answers ): Pope Benedict XIV (1675-1758) stated, "No private revelation is ever to be believed with Catholic faith."

Fr. Slatter goes on to explain, quite succinctly and cogently: --begin quoted text-- The important difference between private and public revelation is this: You do not risk the judgment of God if you disagree with the contents of private revelation. The Church maintains these as private, and as such they elicit only "optional adoption" for the faithful; this is true even of the powerful messages we have from Fatima and Lourdes. The public or universal call to faith for all and for all time is Jesus Christ, the love of our lives. It's not belief in a message, however credible it might be, that will save you. Popes, bishops, and priests can encourage people to these, but they can't promote them as universally essential for salvation. All that the Church is allowed to conclude about a Fatima, a Lourdes, or another apparition is that the messages and associated experiences contain nothing that is contrary to faith.--end quoted text--

So help me out here Glenn, and Mr. Crozier: While I could see some merit in paying attention to a so-called "Warning" - whether derived from St. Faustina or from Garabandal - IF, AND ONLY IF the mystic in question related it specifically to some portion of the Scriptures, Sacred Tradition or the Magisterium (aka: "the big-3" which very specifically require my assent of mind and will) that does not seem to be true, in my opinion, with respect to any of the private revelations relating to any so-called "Warning." Or have I missed something? But Fr. Slatter's point still stands: even if a private revelation is approved by the Church, and even if it might be actually authentic, my salvation does not depend upon my belief or disbelief in its authenticity.

So Mr. Crozier, herein lies why I question that you place such stock in the alleged apparitions of Garabandal. Someday it might be approved, in which case your fervent belief in it will be justified as an "optional adoption," but such belief will never rise to more than it being optional. You can adopt it as part of your faith life, but that has no application for good or ill upon anyone else who does not believe in it. It seems in many of your prior posts you have been quick to imply bad things happening to folks who choose not to believe in Garabandal's "Warning," in much the same fashion as the St. Faustina quote at the top of my entry here ...woe to them....

My problem with that sentiment is that it smacks of violating one of the criteria for discernment that Fr. Slatter later describes in his same article: --begin quoted text--
5. Freedom to respond. Some messages invite a response from believers. I love what Mary is reputed to be saying at the end of locutions at some apparition sites, even after the most sobering of messages: "Thank you for responding to my call." Other "revelations," on the other hand, resort to emotional blackmail. I have in mind a pamphlet that put into the mouth of Christ these words: "Those people, who brawl against my religion and cast slurs on this Sacred Letter, shall be forsaken by me."--end quoted text--

This helps describe my revulsion to CJ's "choose or perish" meme as well.

Charlie's education has at times been a painful lesson for him in humility. He does not need more pain to be inflicted by the jailers on this site, those who wish to keep him imprisoned in his blunder. It is now clear that The Rescue is as much a process as an event. There will be some who will exercise their right to choose and so reject The Rescue that Charlie has prophesied even after the event has come to pass.

When it comes to pass I certainly won't reject it. I will welcome it with open arms even if those open arms expose a vulnerable heart. I suspect it may not be as easy as many hope it will be. Love always involves work and courage and usually sacrifice. We have but a short time to see how much truth is contained in Charlie's prophesy. What good can come of continuing to pillory Charlie? Wisely, Charlie has refused to attend his own flogging here. A healthy decision.

As the old song says -give peace a chance, Glenn. Give Charlie's message a chance. Let it be. For the time being close down this thread.

The Tribulation, Warning, Miracle and conditional Chastisement prophesied at Garabandal are part of a process of rescue in which I have full faith and that will culminate in the final triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Charlie's Rescue, whatever form it may take, will be a welcome bonus. How could it not be so if its executed at the hands of the Mother of God.

As said at the start of this bolivation I ask forgiveness for any offense in which I have misjudged anyone's opinion.

I contend that there is a great deal of good in Charlie's proclamation and at its center beats a heart of pure gold. The Japanese say of someone who has a big heart that they have a heart of wool. May the golden threads that form his heart sustain and maintain the beat of battle that leads us to rescue and victory in the love of Jesus and Mary. May the Rescue be our Reveille and the Warning our Awakening, our Quickening.

Goodbye for now and God bless all here

Joecro or should it be Joeblo.

Mr. Crozier, you said: --begin quoted text--This is not new. It is simply the message of Christianity expressed in a way that is personal to Charlie. This is what he has been taught and what he has been instructed to pass on. This and not any prophesy or political insight lie at the heart of his mission.--end quoted text--

No disagreement here with respect to the first sentence. In fact, your statement proves a point: any "message of Christianity expressed in a way that is personal to Charlie" is, by definition, not revelatory. It is just CJ's personal spin on some well established commandments. No one needs CJ in their lives for this. Back in the day we had Ted Koppel, who reminded us that they are the Ten Commandments, not the Ten Suggestions (and Ted made no claim of being a prophet). CJ's personal spin is completely and utterly unnecessary.

The second sentence is an assertion without evidence. It also contains two logical fallacies, which I won't go into, lest you get defensive. But suffice it to say this second sentence is not in any way factual or persuasive precisely because it presumes that CJ was in fact taught by an "angel" and "instructed" to "pass on" information to the public. This point will forever be in dispute, so it strains credulity for you to assert it plainly as if it were established fact. That is the whole point of discerning the authenticity of any private locutionist.

Your third sentence bears repeating: This and not any prophesy or political insight lie at the heart of his mission. Ah, but CJ disagrees with your assertion here, and it comes from his blog post titled My Purpose: --begin CJ's quoted text--HEARTEN THE FAITHFUL This website is one of the first public steps in that particular duty. I do not write it to give you prophecy, theology, or reports of visitations, though all are incorporated into the purpose.--end CJ's quoted text--

Mr. Crozier, you commit a disservice when you describe CJ's purpose/mission in the way that you have, but leave this part out of your description. Read CJ's words again, especially the phrase "all are incorporated into the purpose." You are entitled to your interpretation of what is important about CJ's alleged purpose/mission, but you are not entitled to distort what CJ actually says is an integral part of his purpose/mission.

Some could legitimately criticize CJ's sentence as self contradictory - and indeed the statement from Archbishop Aquila points out something very similar when it mentions that CJ protested with them that his "message" is not about prophecy, yet they pointed out that his dire predictions of the future are what attract his followers and give them a sense of urgency and zeal. I won't go as far as saying CJ is being self contradictory. But it appears to me, in my opinion only, that what CJ does in this sentence is reveal that the "prophecy, theology, or reports of visitations", replete throughout his blog, are really just the sales pitch "bait" to attract web-traffic and new followers so as to communicate to them what he claims he really wants: to be construed only as a "sherpa" who is giving guidance that the reader, as a Catholic (and as you Mr. Crozier pointed out quite correctly) has already been taught by the Church, and about which the reader truly needs no reminders from CJ or anyone else for that matter (no matter how much TNRS gloss with which he decorates it - calling it his "little way" for example, which I find to be a distasteful co-opting of St. Therese of Lisieux; others refer to this as CJ's penchant for "humblebrag," while I simply see it as an example of CJ's tendency to make an "appeal to authority").

Still praying for you Mr. Crozier.

Jackisback said...

Mr. Crozier, you leave me no choice but to engage in reasoned discernment of your assertions.

--begin quoted text--He does not need more pain to be inflicted by the jailers on this site, those who wish to keep him imprisoned in his blunder.--end quoted text-- Neither CJ, nor Snowy Owl, nor you Mr. Crozier need to view the content of this site if it is too troubling. But even CJ said that he would leave the scene after the inauguration and leave behind his website intact for anyone to continue to make use of, "or to mock." So it would seem CJ is more at peace with this concept than you are.

--begin quoted text--It is now clear that The Rescue is as much a process as an event.--end quoted text-- Why would you distort as a "process" what CJ has clearly described as an "event." And why would you assert that "it is now clear?" Says whom, and why?

--begin quoted text--There will be some who will exercise their right to choose and so reject The Rescue that Charlie has prophesied even after the event has come to pass.--end quoted text. This is abject speculation and assumes facts not yet in evidence, a form of straw man fallacy.

--begin quoted text--We have but a short time to see how much truth is contained in Charlie's prophesy. Actually, truth is not a quantity, but a quality, which is indivisble and always refers to an object, about which the object can be either judged true or false - there is no other category such as "partially true" despite the human temptation to twist falsity into a mix of percentages of truth and falsity. If any persist in believing that a rescue has occurred, or a "process of rescue" has begun, and yet there are many living persons who saw no visible evidence of the blessed virgin Mary (which was purported to be undeniable) as of January 1, 2018, then such persistence is a form of self delusion.

--begin quoted text--What good can come of continuing to pillory Charlie?--end quoted text-- Once again, a straw man fallacy, something you have oft repeated here on this thread. CJ pilloried himself. He figuratively hung himself upon his own petard. None of us would be posting if he hadn't re-emerged and began re-interpreting his self-evident false locution about Obama not finishing his term, about which he claimed was a sign from God that CJ had "told us true." Now he uses special pleading logical fallacy to explain that his human filter must have misinterpreted something that he was "told specifically" and about which he claimed to have 50 years of training to be able to make distinctions between things his "angel" told him that were subject to interpretation and those which were not. He asserted until May of 2017 that the "Obama not finishing his term" locution was in the latter category.

Continued...

Jackisback said...

Mr. Crozier, CJ's writings have a tone fancying himself a modern day Abraham. He admires Abraham's steadfast belief in what God says and how Abraham follows God's instructions unflinchingly, even to sacrifice his only son, figuring that, since God cannot lie, He must be planning to resurrect Isaac from the dead in order for God to keep His promise of Abraham's descendants numbering more than the stars. CJ likely believed the same process was going to unfold vis-a-vis the locution "Obama would not finish his term." He explained this in his blog post "All In." The only problem is, there was/is no "resurrection moment" after Obama finished his term for God to turn the false locution into something true. There is no way for CJ to declare "I told you true." It was either a lie or the communication never happened. If it was a lie, it was a lie all along. He comes back in May 2017 to claim that he wasn't lied to, because God cannot lie. CJ is so certain that he was communicating with God, it must have been that CJ misinterpreted what he at all times previously had distinguished as communication of plain language, not subject to interpretation. That's CJ "pissing on your head and telling you it's raining." But there is no way to square the circle. CJ claimed he had "told us true" on "Obama not finishing his term." But was a lie, and cannot have come from God, yet CJ needs it to have come from God in order to continue as "Abraham 2.0." If CJ had doubts prior to 1/20/2017 about what his "angel told him," he wouldn't have written the post "All In." He likely wanted channel Abraham - a dutiful servant to the bitter end, confident that God would honor His word. When it turned out to be a lie, CJ admitted it was not of God, but then revealed himself in May 2017: he's not a modern day Abraham. He bails on what he knows he was told; he chickens out, and makes up another lie - that he "misinterpreted." He is no longer “All In.”

Face it, CJ ascribed to God something which, due to his politics, CJ merely wanted to believe ("Obama not finishing his term"). This is something CJ described as a lesson he learned as a teenager in: Modern Day Prophecy--begin quoted text--When I was a teenager it struck me once, after listening to about a dozen people speak of what the Holy Spirit had ‘told’ them, that either the Holy Spirit was the author of confusion or many were deceiving themselves, for many of these sol…emn proclamations were mutually contradictory. We all have a desire to appeal to authority – and what better authority to appeal to than God, Himself? Yet when we attribute to God what we merely want to believe ourselves, it is the worst form of bearing false witness – bearing false witness against God, which is a form of blasphemy.--end quoted text--

Then this from CJ: The End of Prophecy --begin quoted text--So often I hear people abusing prophecy by asking “seers” what job they will have, or whether the woman they are dating is the right one for them, etc. Prophecy may, at times touch on these things, but it is never self-referential – it is a call to YOU on how to spread the Kingdom. When it is limited to fortune-telling and is entirely and narrowly self-referential, it is occult divination. It astonishes me that so many who rightly condemn New Age mysticism so eagerly practice this form of divination – while making it worse by crediting it to God, which is a form of blasphemy. There are others who restlessly want to know every detail of future events, as if they are reading a mystery novel. This is pure vanity…”I know something you don’t know” playground stuff. When it degenerates into embittered arguments over what detail is right and what is wrong, it throws a coat of malice and dissension on top of the vanity. That is not from God. Authentic modern prophecy always entails a responsibility, calls for a response on your part.--end quoted text--

Jackisback said...

This text from CJ explains everything that was always wrong with the "Obama will not finish his term" alleged locution. CJ explained the "locution" as if he were a seer; he "knew" something of the future that we did not-vanity-playground stuff; it was self referential inasmuch as it fit with CJ's political animus toward Obama; it was NOT a call on how to spread the Kingdom; it was "divination," made worse because he "credited it to God" (blasphemy); when he discussed it heavily just before inauguration day, it degenerated into embittered arguments over details of "how" God could pull off a last minute stepping aside of Obama, a "coat of malice and dissension on top of the vanity."

Mr. Crozier, please stop referring to the failure of the locution as a human mistake of CJ's. It was not so; he claimed he "told us true" and was "All In." Recall the criticism CJ rendered against LTTW: On Prophecy -- and LTTW--begin quoted text--LttW prophesied in the name of Our Lady that the economic crash would come while Pope Francis was visiting America. There was no ambiguity about it. It was completely errant.--end quoted text--

That criticism applies to CJ's "Obama will not finish his term" alleged locution. There was no ambiguity about it. It was completely errant. CJ goes on in the same thread:--begin quoted text--I still don’t know whether the locutionist at LttW is authentic or not. (As Glenn Dallaire of Mystics of the Church points out in the comments, this was not a prophecy, but claimed to be a direct word from Our Lady, herself – so the locutionist is not authentic.) Certainly, this prophecy turned out to be false...What I know is that the locutionist prophesied falsely – but she is a false prophet because she attributed the words specifically to Our Lady, not as her own interpretation. Even so, she may be sincere, but sincerely deluded, needing more of our prayers and less of our scorn. It is as much a statement on how we need to discern as anything else, I think.--end quoted text--

This is where we should be with CJ - considering him as maybe sincere, but sincerely deluded, needing more of our prayers and less of our scorn. Of course, he would be getting zero "scorn" if he would have kept his hand over his mouth. All should follow CJ's conclusiong about LTTW and apply it to CJ: What we know is that CJ's locution of Obama not finishing his term was false - and CJ is a false prophet because he attributed the words specifically to the "angel Gabriel," not as his own interpretation (until he came back in May 2017 to bear false witness against himself in that regard) - a lesson on discernment indeed.

CJ is not Abraham and he lacks the honor of the LTTW locutionist by refusing to leave the scene. His blog creates division in the Body of Christ. You and Snowy come here to defend him, rather than doing what he claimed was more important than anything else, acknowledging God, taking the next right step, and being a sign of hope to others. I am still praying for you Mr. Crozier, but as I think about your commentary here, I find you focusing less on God and more obsessed with Garabandal; I find you not to be taking many right steps in your fact-free style in discernment disputes with us, and I find you less a sign of hope, and more a threatener of Garabandal doom to those of us who don't believe that apparition.

Instead of insisting Glenn shut down this thread, it would be much more charitable for all concerned if you simply did a self shut down of blogging on this thread and went back to spend your time on the TNRS blog, praying for CJ, as we are, and maybe convincing him that he should shut down TNRS. Then you will actually get what you want, because no one will blog here after that.

Joe here's the diagnosis that you posted about us:

"It may be that obsessive and compulsive malicious elements together with the unstable polarity and the insensitivity of psychosis displayed on this thread may need more considered approach. If any of this applies you are not at fault."

Now a lot of us took Psych 101 in college; for a lot of folks it was a basic freshman or sophomore course. It hardly qualified any of us--frankly even someone who got an undergraduate degree in Psychology--to render the kind of opinion you posted here. In fact you wouldn't be able to get a fully qualified psychologist or psychiatrist to render such an opinion on the basis of blog entries.

Joe, are you sure you meant to use the word "bloviate?" You realize you used it accurately, right?

Definition:
"Bloviate. To bloviate is to talk, but not just to chat. To bloviate means to go on and on and on and on, usually in a pompous way. ... When someone bloviates, he is speaking in an empty, pretentious, full-of-himself manner."

Fred Keyes said...

Joe, in regards Garabandal, what are Catholics supposed to do to prepare for the "Warning" that they already do by going to Mass and confession regularly, leading a prayer-filled life and doing their best to be found with their noses to the grindstone (namely performing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy) when the Lord comes?

When you go to the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, what exactly do you think has happened to the adults among those being baptized or received fully into the Church? How is their personal conversion not already the kind of event that you think will come in one fell swoop to everyone on the planet?

God has infinite patience and He created us with free will. Therefore, conversions take time (as St. Peter tells us, 2 Peter 3:9) and typically happen organically rather than in spectacular fashion as envisioned by the seers at Garabandal or a la CJ's highly questionable or debunked scenarios.

Thanks for the compliment, Anon Jones. It is all about discernment, or to put a finer point on it, caring enough to put in some work in order to apply rigorous tests in that discernment. Too often, testing of a would-be prophet is not done well, yet it is something that requires what I refer to as due diligence.

The trick for me is to be as charitable as I can, always remembering that as Catholics we are all supposed to be on the same team. This is something that some of CJ's staunchest defenders (and, yes, some regular posters here) seem to forget.

One reason that I have found blogging here to be a positive experience is the interactions with some posters here who are very different from me in some aspects to the point where I am certain that we would disagree vehemently on certain issues. Just two examples are: Glenn Dallaire himself, and Fred Keyes.

Glenn is very different from me in terms of his approach to mystics generally. Fred Keyes and I are quite far apart on the American political spectrum. But in both of these cases, because we have shown each other mutual respect, we have not allowed our disagreements to affect how we perceive our duty of charity as Catholics toward each other. I'm actually confident that were I to engage with Fred on politics, we would end the conversation with the same level of respect for each other as we began. I am reminded of the line in A Man For All Seasons during the very loud argument between Henry VIII and Thomas More, where, in a momentary calm, More (played by Paul Scofield) says to Henry (played by Robert Shaw)I am sick to think how much I must displease Your Grace. Henry replies No, Thomas, I respect your sincerity. But respect...man, that's water in the desert. I love that screenplay - the themes are timeless. Respect is a quality that is beyond valuation.

It's time for me to take a respite from this. Looking foward to a long weekend that includes an annual pheasant hunt in North Dakota, more time with family and friends and less time with electronic devices.

Fred Keyes said...

I agree, Jack, you would be a pleasure to have a political discussion with.

Funny you mention the great patron of lawyers--my attorney wife and I are headed to a Thomas More Society get-together this evening. It's one of the few things that would cause me to miss a World Series game. She recites lines from "A Man for All Seasons" as well as other of Thomas expressions all the time.

Thomas More, as you probably know, could use some pretty rough language. I can imagine that were he on this blog, his words would be a lot more colorful than ours.

Just know, my friend Jack, that both you and L. And were you and I to meet in person, I am quite sure that we would hit it off wonderfully, even though we may have some differing perspectives on certain matters. You are quite right when you say that mutual respect is the key to beneficial dialogue!

And Godspeed on your trip to N. Dakota! I have to say I envy you a bit as I would love to go on a pheasant hunt in the Midwest prairies! What an enjoyable time that must be. I have done my fair share of pheasant hunting here in CT, though it has been quite awhile having done so. I've done alot of deer hunting also, along with fishing. Anyway, best wishes on you trip--may it be peaceful and relaxing for mind, body and spirit.

In closing, thanks Jack for all of the wonderful insights that you bring to the conversations here. I know that quite a few persons on this website join me in appreciation of all of your efforts and collaboration here.

Fred,

I give money every year to the Thomas More Society. The fund that I send their way formerly were allocated to the University of Notre Dame. You may be able to guess why I stopped giving money to ND and switched the allocation to the More Society. Hint: I also give money to the Sycamore Trust annually as well. Tell your wife my favorite line from Scofield is: "The Pope granted a dispensation so that the king might marry his brother's widow, for state reasons. Now we are to ask His Holiness to dispense with his dispensation, also for state reasons?"

Glenn, good to hear that we have hunting and fishing in common! It will be cold in North Dakota this weekend for the first time in the past five Octobers that I've been making this trip, which is too bad, as I was getting used to hunting in blue-jeans and a hunting vest. But it will be good for the soul and for ruddy looking cheeks nevertheless.

With all due respect (ha ha) how can any of you torture God’s creatures by “hunting” them and call it relaxation and good for the soul? This is just inhumane and disrespectful of God’s creation. These creatures we have been gifted to us by God and we share in his love and care for them. God made His covenant with animals and us; as St Francis said animals have the same source in God as us; God’s ideal as in Eden is that we live in harmony with animals; God’s creation deserves to be treated respectfully - wronging animals is wronging God; inflicting pain on an animal is incompatible with Christ’s way.

I am quite appalled by your disrespectful, antiquated attitude to animals. No “logic” can support your attitude. Go and read some Franciscan theology instead of hunting Jack and others. I am quite distressed by your attitude for all your self righteous criticism of CJ and his followers. Let he who is without sin...

And no I am not Joe nor a CJ follower.

Dear Anon@5:17,

If God so loved the pig, why did He make bacon so delicious?

Catholics are allowed to eat meat as long as it's not a Friday in Lent. You can't make up rules that go beyond those of the Church and try to shame others into following them.

BTW, there's a wonderful article on Francis of Assisi in Crisis Magazine from a few years ago. I looked it up for you. It's by a priest/scholar and it says Francis was emphatically not a vegetarian! It also says Francis was far more distressed at irreverence than mistreatment of the poor (below).

My takeaway on this is St. Francis would be quite angry at Charlie Johnston, a fabulist who tells falsehoods about Our Lord, Our Lady and the angels, a man who said he'd leave the scene and broke his word.

So, you're not Joe and not a follower of Charlie, but you just happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by... welcome.

Anon at 5:17, at the risk of getting too far afield from our topic here, I think it's worthwhile to point to Acts 11:4-9. And of course the "dominion" that God gave Man over His creation.

That said, we certainly have a duty to husband animals in way that is as humane as possible and not to inflict gratuitous pain on them. The latter is actually more harmful to the person who engages in it than to the animal, which after all is not a self-aware creature. (In scholastic philosophy the way it's described is an animal knows, but it does not know that it knows; only human is capable of that.)

It bothers me that animals in many cases have become more important in the view of many than is human life. Moreover anthropomorphizing animals is wrong. I don't believe St. Francis did that. Rather he saw all of nature as an ordered part of God's creation and his infinite love.

Stewardship is the key. For example, allowing animals like deer to overpopulate is in itself cruel. Game and fish departments allow for culling of the herds for that reason. There is nothing wrong with taking pleasure in managing God's creation well.

To Anonymous at 5:17AM:
Regarding hunting: Obviously you will agree that this is a subject for a whole other discussion not relevant to the subject of this thread or this website, however I would simply point out that neither the Church nor the Scriptures forbids responsible hunting, fishing etc. or for that matter any legitimate use of animals for the benefit of man.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church # 2417-18 deals specifically with the matter of the use of animals for food, clothing, medical and scientific experimentation etc, and I would cite this as a reply to your comment.

Anonymous said...

Yes, God did give dominion over animals however this does not include abusing them by hunting them for pleasure. There are humane and inhumane and Catholic and definitely unGodly ways of using animals for food or other purposes and hobby hunting to relax from a stressful time blogging about a pseudo prophet is not one of them. St Francis may not have been vegetarian but he also was not someone who tortured God’s creatures by hunting them so he could relax and recover from his stress over dealings with other Catholics. I note this was an appropriate topic for this thread when it was something you wanted to support, agree and have a friendly chat with Jack about Glenn. Because someone has called you out on it it is suddenly not totally relevant. It is because it relates to how people are dealing with their thoughts and feelings about CJ.

Theology has moved way beyond the “man has dominion and authority over all creatures and can use them as he sees fit” old fashioned and unGodly approach. I suggest you read Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment. In the encyclical, the Pope reminds us, “We read in the Gospel that Jesus says of the birds of the air that ‘not one of them is forgotten before God’ ( Lk 12:6). How then can we possibly mistreat them or cause them harm?” Puts a whole new perspective on you and Jack’s pheasant hunting “entertainment” doesn’t it?

This is not about being vegetarian, having authority over animals. It is about respecting and caring and loving for God’s creation.

For consideration and discernment:

Anonymous Jones posted earlier on obsession and its potential link to the demonic; that is, the presence of an obsession can be a first sign of demonic harassment. A diabolic element cannot be dismissed out of hand when an alleged seer has offered failed predictions and, furthermore, has been investigated and rejected by competent ecclesiastical authority.

Regarding any psychological evaluation of the content of some posts on the thread, the notion of "circumstantial speech" comes to mind. This is a form of speech one finds in people suffering obsessive-compulsive disorder.

"Circumstantial speech (also referred to as circumstantiality) is the result of a so called "non-linear thought pattern" and occurs when the focus of a conversation drifts, but often comes back to the point.[1] In circumstantiality, apparently unnecessary details and seemingly irrelevant remarks cause a delay in getting to the point.

"If someone exhibits circumstantial speech during a conversation, they will often seem to "talk the long way around" to their point, which may be an attempt by the speaker to include pertinent hyperspatial details, that may contrast with linear speech, which is more direct, succinct, and to the point (the gist) even at the expense of more precise, accurate communication. Some individuals with autistic tendencies may prefer highly precise speech, and this may seem circumstantial, but in fact it is a choice that posits that more details are necessary to communicate a precise meaning, and preempt more disastrous ambiguous communication.

"Circumstantial speech is more direct than tangential speech in which the speaker wanders and drifts (in order to add more thought vectors in unrelated hyperplanes) and usually never returns to the original topic, and is far less severe than logorrhea. A helpful metaphor is traveling to a destination. If someone is thinking and speaking linearly, then they will go directly to the point. Circumstantial speech is more like taking "unnecessary" detours, according to some, but the speaker eventually arrives at the intended destination. In tangential speech, the speaker simply gets lost along the way, never returning to the original topic of conversation. With logorrhea, which is closer to word salad, it may not even be clear that the speaker had a particular idea or point in the first place.

Symptoms

"A person afflicted with circumstantiality has slowed thinking and invariably talks at length about irrelevant and trivial details (i.e. circumstances). Eliciting information from such a person can be difficult since circumstantiality makes it hard for the individual to stay on topic. In most instances however, the relevant details are eventually achieved.

The disorder is often associated with schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder."

The last bit, about schizophrenia, is worthy of consideration as well. It is certainly possible to find elements that reflect a paranoid outlook in posts of Charlie Johnston's defenders, particularly those which posit a conspiracy against him, which may be limited in scope or wide-ranging/encompassing. This is rather like Hillary Clinton's famed "right wing conspiracy," a mechanism for deflecting questions away from one's self and projecting evil impulses/actions onto others.

The subject of this thread is CJ. If discussing him and his ideas becomes so stressful that people wish to turn to hunting animals for relaxation which is disrespectful to God’s creation then it is an example of how far and wide the fallout from his ideas and behaviour can be. This is certainly relevant to this thread and is not trolling. I disagree with Jack and Glenn’s ideas about using hunting for animals as a way of relaxing due to the stresses of blogging about CJ. How is that irrelevant or trolling? It is not saying it is irrelevant or trolling is just a way to shut down discussion of ideas people may find uncomfortable.

Joe, it seems you can't keep your word-just like Charlie!!! You're back almost before you left. You've been here before months ago and used different names, haven't you? Anonymous sometimes, then Joe then Joe Crozier. You are the sock puppet you accuse others of being. You said you got tossed from another blog and the owner gave you a bad name, did you keep coming back there and insulting people and making demands? No one gives you a bad name Joe, you give it to yourself. Do what Jack asked you to do Joe, if you have any decency.

"CJ is not Abraham and he lacks the honor of the LTTW locutionist by refusing to leave the scene.

"Instead of insisting Glenn shut down this thread, it would be much more charitable for all concerned if you simply did a self shut down of blogging on this thread and went back to spend your time on the TNRS blog, praying for CJ, as we are, and maybe convincing him that he should shut down TNRS. Then you will actually get what you want, because no one will blog here after that."

Bemused said...

Anonymous above,

Jack is correct that nobody will be blogging here after the TNRS blog shuts down. As you might know, Glenn had a similar blog thread for the Locutions to the World (LttW) nonsense. After the LttW prophecy failed, the LttW website was immediately shut off. That occurred on September 28, 2015, and the so-called LttW 'seer' disappeared and has not been heard from since. If you check Glenn's LttW blog thread, the last time anyone posted there was October 3, 2015...less than a week after the LttW website was turned off. The failed LttW seer move on and so did the followers of Glenn's LttW blog thread.

But I have a feeling it will be different in Charlie's case. I fully expect that New Years Eve, which is just 65 days away, will come and go with no Regent, no Menses, no FEMA camps, no worldwide economic collapse, no return to the barter system, no civil wars, no 26 million dead, no war with China, no mass conversion of Islam, and no Mayberry RFD. But now that we learned that the rescue is no longer a single event, but rather a "process", this silliness can potentially continue indefinitely.

Did anyone else catch CJ's last podcast? Charlie's guest was "communications director" of the diocese of Santa Rosa in California. I was gobsmacked to hear an official of a Catholic diocese yukking it up with CJ. This guy-Chris Lyford-even said he used "sign of hope" as the name of the diocese's big fundraiser for fire victims, he did it in honor of Charlie. Even if this guy likes Charlie, he had no business at all using his job to help Charlie... I bet Charlie knew exactly what he was doing when he had him on, making Charlie look like he's legit when he absolutely, positively isn't.

Bishop Robert Vasa is bishop of Santa Rosa. His email is on his website in care of his assistant, lpeter@srdiocese.org if anyone is interested.

I'm quite certain that Jack and myself are DEFINITELY NOT at all stressed about the whole Charlie matter, as can be seen by the way we have always discussed the matter calmly and peacefully here on this forum. We both have been monitoring the situation and commenting on it for several years, so it ongoing matter.

And in addition I would point out what Jack said "It's time for me to take a respite from this. Looking foward to a long weekend that includes an annual pheasant hunt in North Dakota, more time with family and friends and less time with electronic devices."

Note that he said NOTHING about being stressed concerning Charlie anywhere in his comments--and neither have I--Jack was talking about relaxing on vacation, so your repeated comments about "taking stress out on poor animals" is obviously way off base.

Glenn yes, Jack did state he was stressed through his use of the word “respite” the official definition of which is:

respite
ˈrɛspʌɪt,ˈrɛspɪt/Submit
noun
1.
a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or unpleasant.
"the refugee encampments will provide some respite from the suffering"
synonyms: rest, break, breathing space, interval, intermission, interlude, recess, lull, pause, time out, hiatus, halt, stop, stoppage, cessation, discontinuation, standstill;

I note that you are often stridently defensive of feedback which is negative often pouncing on small details to try to exonerate yourself. Why not just say sorry, promise to try to do better in the future and seek forgiveness?

Anonymous Jones said...

I'd like to redirect attention from our troll to the comment above on Charlie Johnston's last podcast and his guest, Chris Lyford.

As Anon@11:40 noted, Chris Lyford is director of communications for the Diocese of Santa Rosa. He also, apparently, is a long-time follower of Charlie. He not only appeared on a podcast designed to bolster and expand the reach of a failed prophet, he also took action, in his role as an official of a Roman Catholic diocese, to honor Charlie. He did that by naming a campaign to raise money for fire victims "Sign of Hope," a phrase Lyford closely associated with Charlie's work.

Did Lyford's bishop and know of his appearance with a man who has been the subject of two formal warnings by the archbishop of Denver? Is Bishop Vasa aware his new campaign, highlighted on the diocese's webpage, is tied to "inaccurate visions" that are not to be condoned by Catholics?

Lyford himself must be aware of the Denver rulings and ignored them. Among his professional duties is scanning and posting selections from Catholic News Service, which covered Denver's announcement on Charlie. Lyford's personal blog contains links to TNRS and also includes photo illustrations plucked from Charlie's blog.

Lyford's abuse of his position is not a one-time thing. He previously worked in a similar capacity in the archdiocese of San Francisco. Two years ago he hosted Charlie Johnston on the Archbishop's Radio Hour, an archdiocesan news and information program. This was back when Charlie was still going on about refuges, FEMA camps, breakdown of law and order, possible starvation and disease, need to protect your loved ones, etc.

Did Archbishop Cordileone know and approve Lyford's use of the archdiocese airtime to push this very sketchy seer? I suspect Lyford billed him as a Catholic lay evangelist or some such thing. Lyford was also involved in getting a special service and talk held for Charlie at the St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco. He opened the doors of the Mother Church to a sham seer. I suspect Archbishop Cordileone, who has a reputation as an orthodox prelate, had no knowledge of what was being done by his chancery official.

This is a grave abuse of office by Chris Lyford. He should be held accountable.

Below is a link to a 15-minute segment of the Archbishop's Radio Hour on video at YouTube. There's also a list of other programs, to show what an outlier the Charlie Johnston interview was.

Um, with all due respect what exactly are you talking about? Are you sure you are posting to the right person and that you commenting on the right forum? What exactly am I supposed to be sorry for, and seek forgiveness for? Are you not the one who has gone on a rant against hunting when it has already been pointed out to you that neither the Church nor the Scriptures forbid it whatsoever, and that also your anti-hunting rant is not only not in accord with Church teaching, it has nothing to do with the comments that were made here, along with the subject of this article, or the subject of this forum? Your replies are disconnected and disjointed from what has been and is being discussed here so obviously you are indeed a troll just trying to start arguments, as a few others here have already suggested.

In short, if you want to discuss your concerns against hunting and other unrelated subjects, then why don't you go onto another website forum where such matters are being discussed? And please don't accuse me of being "stridently defensive" or trying to "exonerate myself" or in need of seeking forgiveness from you when I have been exceeding charitable and patient towards your completely off topic comments and unrelated, disconnected replies.

So, once again with all due respect, either keep to the subject at hand, or go elsewhere.

Ah, my little troll, unfamiliar as you are with the concept of honor and decency, let me explain it a bit to you. It does not have to do with whether you agree or disagree with someone...it has to do with their character, keeping their word, speaking honorably, valuing nothing so highly they are willing to lie and cheat to get it done. Thus, though Joe Lieberman is a man with whom I disagree on most things and do not support, he is an honorable man aand not a hack. I have a difficult time coming up with anyone else of prominence on your side. As much as you disagree with, say, an Allen West and a Ted Cruz, what you see is what you get. They are honorable men. Hey gang, Charlie just posted again. It's much of the same, i. e. the left sucks, but check this out:

They should get out to flyover country, go to an NRA meeting, maybe even a church service. They’ll be astonished to discover that here in the Heartland, we treat women with respect – like real people rather than as mere things for our pleasure.

An NRA meeting? How could he even suggest that without a hint of irony after what happened just four weeks ago?

Then he goes on:

An attempt to double-down on the phony Russian collusion charges against the Trump administration the very week after it was revealed that all the collusion has come from the left will lead to a Constitutional crisis at best, the beginning of violent civil strife at worst. We are nearing a perilous Rubicon. Normal Americans are, to use a favorite leftist expression, woke.

Whatever comes, remember that God has a plan. (He still believes this? After January? God help us.) We are called to be a Godly people, neither tolerating nor enabling the assaults from the left, nor striking out in frustrated vengeance. All things ARE being revealed.

Who would even want what he's predicting? Why do people still listen to him? And why hasn't he been muzzled?

I thought you would all like this, from the late Rick Salbato:

DISCERNMENT MADE SIMPLE

There are common traits of the true and the false. This is not a summary, nor can it be applied to every case. But it will be helpful if you do not have time to review all the documents of a reported apparition or message or reported miracle worker. There are some things that are a sure mark of the false, whether fraud or demonic. Keep in mind that even those that are purely fraud have demonic influence, since all sin has demonic influence.

Regarding the seer and the followers of the seer, do not judge "fruits" by the amount of prayer, fasting, masses, confessions, or even the turning away from sin. All of these things occur in every false apparition. Look instead for the virtues of chastity, poverty, obedience, simplicity, trust in God, faith in the Church, and a charity towards those in authority and those who do not believe.

A false seer does things to draw attention to himself rather than God. A false seer often claims to control the time and place of an apparition. Most false seers become the leader of the group. The false seer always profits in some way from the phenomena. The false seer seeks or needs the attention from people, or the love of people, or the approval of people. A true seer enters into absolutely no idle conversation. All conversation of a true seer is for the salvation of souls, everything else is from the devil.

Any message that is not in conformity with the Holy Bible and the Holy Tradition is false. Any message that is contrary to messages already approved by the Church is false. Any message that suggests leaving everything up to God is false. Any message that suggests leaving everything up to man is false. Any message that condones more than one Church is false. Any message that threatens punishment to those who do not believe in it is false. Any message that gives to itself the authority that belongs to the local Bishop is false.

Any miracle that does not have a salvation meaning is false. Any miracle that is done outside the Church is false. Any miracle that has a purely physical meaning is false. Any miracle that is exaggerated, presumptuous, controlled by the seer, or attributed to the actions or rituals of the seer is false.

Any apparition, miracle, or seer that causes disunity among families, communities, or the Church is false. Any message or seer that approves of discrimination is false.

By the same token, but the opposite effect, any message or seer that approves of or condones or simply remains silent about any sin is false.

Regarding folks over at Charlie's blog recognizing and accepting Charlie being a completely failed prophet come this January:

To be very frank I honestly cannot even fathom how anyone come January 1st will possibly be able to give any credence whatsoever to Charlie and all his predictions, because come this January it will be so glaringly obvious that his supposed prophesy mission supposedly led by heaven will be a complete and utter failure at that point, that is barring any miraculous events from now until then.

There is simply no way to goal post move all of his predictions together to a later date, without it being glaringly obvious that its all completely false, even for the most ardent follower.

Joseph J.,

You may be mistaken at the depth of denial among Charlie's followers. An exchange on his Rubicon post:

Please excuse my ignorance. I am not a regular poster here and may have missed something. Regardless of what happens in the near future, does Charlie still believe in our Blessed Mother’s visible, miraculous rescue happening late in 2017? I thought that was a ‘for sure’ thing that did not require any interpretation, and it has given me hope to think that anything terrible will not last that long, since the end of 2017 is only 2 months away. Thanks in advance for any clarity you might have on the subject.

Yes, Christina, the Rescue will come. You have described it well and can listen to Podcast 3 if you would like to hear Charlie speak to it. You can link to it from here.

At the same time, I think you should also prepare for the possibility that Charlie may have been mistaken on the rescue as well. If nothing happens DO NOT DESPAIR and don’t lose hope. This stuff is tricky and we don’t want to fall into any traps or “snares” if you get my drift. God Bless.

Joseph J, those comments caught my attention as well. I also noticed quite a few people at TNRS posting about Garabandal. As you probably know, Garabandal which predicted a Warning, Miracle, and Chastisement. Not sure how that squares with Charlie's prophecies. If we're visibly rescued by New Years Eve and living in Mayberry starting New Years Day, I'm not sure we'll need a Warning, Miracle, and Chastisement. Unless the Garabandal prophecies occur very shortly, in which case we're in for a very busy November and December.

Charlie is in full cry with his latest political screed. "The Decisive Moment Has Come" strips any semblance of a spiritual purpose from his claims.

L Spinelli said...

I just read it, Fred. This rant proves (again) that Charlie's mission can't be from God. Politics and other earthly affairs are not of Him.

I couldn't even get angry when reading it. It's Charlie's last grasp at relevancy, since December 31 is looming.

A true seer enters into absolutely no idle conversation. All conversation of a true seer is for the salvation of souls, everything else (American politics, being far right wing, etc. - my note) is from the devil.

Charlie's latest post is bizarre. It occurs to me, after reading it, that Charlie wants retribution on those he deems "progressive" or "liberal" for their political machinations. He's not a prophet from God, but rather an unbalanced political junkie. Thank you, L. Spinelli, for that excellent quote on discernment!

CJ, in his last two posts says:

--begin quoted text--If, feeling the ground crumbling beneath them, this is a last-ditch effort by the anti-God left to get their mojo back, by brazening and bullying it out, it will make for a VERY perilous moment – and may launch a genuine crisis of massive proportions.

...An attempt to double-down on the phony Russian collusion charges against the Trump administration the very week after it was revealed that all the collusion has come from the left will lead to a Constitutional crisis at best, the beginning of violent civil strife at worst.

...We are called to be a Godly people, neither tolerating nor enabling the assaults from the left, nor striking out in frustrated vengeance.

...There is now no negotiated settlement or stand-down possible.

...I am horrified because, if this is allowed to stand, it would be formal recognition that there are now two tiers of justice in America;...

...The question before us now is whether this nation can stand with a justice system that punitively targets conservatives and Christians for failing to bow to ‘progressive’ sensibilities while simultaneously exempting ‘progressives’ from accountability for the ugliest of criminal behavior. There can no longer be a compromise. One side must win and the other, lose. The future of liberty, itself, is now in the balance.
--end quoted text--

The 1st graph is hyperbole, a set-up for the crisis mongering post of Oct 31. The 2nd graph frames CJ's "crisis" as Constitutional, but that's prima facie false. The Democrats cannot impeach Trump on their own, and the judicial branch has no power to hear charges against a sitting President. Ergo, there will be no "Constitutional crisis" if "crisis" is defined as one branch of government usurping the power of another. As well, impeachment proceedings are not evidence of a Constitutional crisis, but rather the operation of the Constitution as written.

As for "violent civil strife," based upon what? Left wingers favor what Mueller is doing and no right wingers are threatening public protests based on CJ's grievances (yet). Is CJ hinting here that he's going to call for another "million man march" to foment civil strife?

The 3rd graph contrasts with the others. Is it designed to inoculate CJ from accusations that he is advocating violent protest - despite the dog whistles within his posts?

The 4th graph is hyperbole and fails to name the parties (straw men) who could "negotiate" an unspecified settlement of unspecified issues. It also fails to define "standown," making it impossible to support or refute CJ's ominous-sounding assertion: this is classic "ambiguity" logical fallacy.

The 5th graph is hyperbole, and is premature with respect to the Steele-Russia-dossier. CJ specifies no time frame from which one could judge that his perceived injustices have been "allowed to stand." Ambiguity.

The 6th graph made me "chuckle ruefully." Will someone charitably inform CJ that the "future of liberty" is, axiomatically, always "in the balance?" Or is Charlie hinting at a locution that he's received? The first part of this graph is nonsensical in that CJ fails to mention that the judicial branch cannot try facts from charges not yet brought to court. CJ is upset about a perception of selective prosecution by the executive branch, which is currently occupied by "his guy" and "his guy's" appointees. Mueller's presence is due to a decision of Sessions, not the "anti-God left."

I'm with you on this, Fred. This is just a CJ rant/screed. I think we may be seeing first drafts of CJ's shooting-from-the-hip political opinions now. They don't have anything to do with his "mission/purpose." In the old days, CJ used to say "these things must come." Not anymore. He clearly needs our prayers.

While I don’t often agree with Charlie, I do respect his sincerity in what he says. However, it takes a little research, but if one does it, the will find that the Uranium One deal is nothing like it has been depicted by FOXNews and similar outlets. The deflection to Hillary is so egregious it can’t go without something being said. I won’t bore you all with the facts but I will encourage you to look for them yourself.

Beckita says:

Truth is truth, Terri. Part of the confusion of these times involves the dark side making its presence known, as good is called evil and evil is named good. We all must ask Holy Spirit to lead us to truth in this environment in which we find ourselves. The mainstream media promote lies and its reporters are known for supporting Obama, Clinton and the Curroptocrats platform, drenched in the culture of death. Instead of reporting facts, they opine and avidly drive their God-less agenda.

The only thing egregious concerning Hilary is the incredible and pervasive deception perpetrated by those in power who have obfuscated and, repeatedly, told bold-faced lies to provide cover for her and the Clinton Foundation with its multitudinous tentacles, sucking the life out of people, worldwide. Charlie has not simply given opinions. He has firmly backed all that he has written, linking us to the discoveries made by those investigative reporters who have done thorough research, for they know the failure of the mainstream media to report facts. God bless us all.

I don't begrudge people their politics and opinions, and I can even understand what Charlie is after since he seems to identify with St. Joan of Arc. On the other hand, there is a danger for those who are "all in" for Charlie, hanging on his every word as if it is Heaven sent. Witness the latest post and comments section. Pity the poor person who wandered in there with an opposing viewpoint and presented it respectfully. In my opinion it does nothing but illustrate the problem, not the solution.

Re comments to Charlie's latest (10/31/17) TNRS piece: I had to smile a bit as I read Joe Cro's comment in which he refers to an article in the Jesuit weekly "America." The article is excellent, but it's twisted in Joe's reading of it.

The irony is that the writers and editors of "America" would dismiss the TNRS prophecies as ludicrous nonsense.

But we have 2 months until the rescue right? When is the war with China going to start happening? Also, when are muslims going to convert in mass? Am I missing something about your predictions and prophecies? Are big things about to go down? Your blog is very confusing if we only have 2 months for your predictions to happen.

With respect, Sean, I must say answers your questions are all over this site. Any confusion can readily be resolved if each person takes the responsibility to read what is here, both in the archives and in Charlie’s recent posts. Please, all you need do is use the search bar on the right of the page and enter the words: Charlie Johnston. You’ll find a listing of the ten pieces Charlie has written since his return to the site on May 23rd. I’ll link you to that page here. You can also listen to the podcast for further instructions, information and insight. You might especially appreciate podcast #3 because the Rescue is specifically addressed in it.

Sean, most of all, for you, me and all who visit here: if we only focus on what “*has to happen*” in the next two months, then we’ve missed the majority of what Charlie has expressed to us since the inception of this blog which he founded. We really are here to encourage each other by bringing HOPE into these days of darkness, the HOPE placed on God and HIS Plan. Please, review Through a Glass Darkly to truly get but a glimpse of how God has worked and works now with Charlie. You’ll find it here.

Nice try, Sean. I'm not being snark. You're just the latest in a long line of people who asked about the five fundamentals, which were ALL supposed to come to fruition LONG BEFORE the Rescue. There's no way they'll happen by December 31, but Beckita is the keeper of the asylum, after all.

Thank you, Karen, for this reminder of what Our Lady of America came to convey. I often give thanks to Our Lord and Our Lady for the movement of the Holy Spirit after this country was founded, when ALL of America’s land comprised the Province of Baltimore. It was on May 13, 1846 (love the May 13th date!) that the 23 bishops gathered in Baltimore “… adopted a decree by which they chose the Blessed Virgin Mary, conceived without sin, as Patroness of the United States.” There’s more here about this event. Such wisdom! Such a tremendous gift! Just as our parents, Adam and Eve, we have fallen to the worst depths. But our fall hasn’t canceled Our Lady’s place in this nation. The serpent has just moved in on HER turf and she has not abandoned us. Enter Charlie Johnston. No drama. No guru. No undue focus on him other than his charge to defend the faith, hearten the faithful and defend the faithful.

See, as in so many original messages given by Our Lord or Our Lady, we humans are pretty stiff-necked and move as sludge in responding to Their original wishes. In incredible patience and from Pure Love, rather than allowing us to drown ourselves, They throw us another line, a different means of retrieving us from the stormy waters we created. Again, this is my pondering, I wonder with awe at what Charlie has been commissioned to do and how Our Lady the Immaculate Conception is not only the Patroness of this Country but also of this website and community. She is a key intercessor in the Prayer of Miraculous Trust. All of this is to say, while Our Lady of America’s wishes were not heeded as requested, I am observing what God, from His Infinite Imagination, is leading us to in these days of intensifying Storm.

Most of all, I pray and hope our friends on other shores know how we wish never to be elitist in what Our Lord and Our Lady are doing in this country and I look forward to how They will unify all countries while maintaining beautiful diversity – in the best sense of what God’s diversity truly is.

L Spinelli said...

I wonder what's going to happen to Beckita next year, when Charlie's so-called mission tanks after the Rescue doesn't happen. (As I said and I believe Jack did too, my faith doesn't hinge on anything a self-proclaimed prophet says.) That said, I also wonder if she spoke about the failed mystics she used to follow (and go to the Vatican to defend) in the same fawning way.

Fred Keyes said...

A truth that can't be repeated often enough is that no private revelation is necessary to anyone's salvation. None.

Beckita's faith though seems to be utterly dependent on alleged and unproven private revelation claims. Therein lies a huge problem. How can St. John Paul II's New Evangelization take hold if genuine outreach based on Scripture and Tradition is drowned out by the TNRS's irresponsible disaster porn?

L Spinelli, thankfully you are right, IMO. Very few everyday people are caught up in all this nonsense. All the more reason to continue to present firm and reasoned rebuttals to the baseless narratives the Charlie Johnston-ites push.

Bemused said...

All this preoccupation with mystics, seers, sages, locutionists, apparitions, bleeding hosts, crying statues, stigmatas, worldwide warnings, smells of roses, rosaries turning to gold, and uncorrupted bodies, calls to mind this passage from John:

"Jesus said to him, Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."

Is the word of Christ insufficient that we must constantly chase after the latest mystical phenomenon to strengthen our faith?

I will close with:

"An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.”

Anonymous Jones said...

Let me remind people Charlie's archbishop said his visions of 2016/2017 were inaccurate and not be to condoned or reinterpreted so as to make them appear accurate. Beckita and others are in active conflict with their Catholic faith by rejecting the ruling of the bishop who has God-given authority to discern seers in his archdiocese and to protect the faithful. Unlike Charlie's self-proclaimed mission to protect the faithful, this is a true mandate.

I was appalled to see some of TRNS followers insist they were defending a poor widow when they posted here, instead of a woman rejecting the Catholic church and its guidance and authority -- and leading others into the sin of doing this, too.

The problems we Catholics face in this modern world are serious and potentially deadly, most certainly. Charlie gets our attention by pointing to this situation and then offers the kind of future that would satisfy our dearest dreams. It's like the apostles who asked Jesus to rain down fire from heaven on the Samaritans (read: the Muslims?) who did not accept them. Luke bluntly writes, "Jesus turned and rebuked them..." @Jean, interesting points made. But I see the world in varying shades of gray, unlike the TNRS people. (Someone was praying to "rebuke evil science" in the comments. That's exactly what I'm talking about. Science is both and can be used for both.)

Not all liberals and non-religious are under the Devil's spell. Not all Christians/conservatives/Tea Partiers embody the spirit of Christ. Looking at "the other" as an implacable enemy (as Charlie seems to do so often) is why the country is so divided.

God doesn't belong to any political party. Charlie and TNRS seem to forget that. Don't forget that a very big component to Charlie's appeal is their belief that God thinks like they do, because of what Charlie's "angel" told him.

My only question to Beckita, i.e. Mrs. Becky Hesse, is "Since Charlie's election prophecy has totally failed, Charlie's own Archbishop has already ruled against him and forbidden him to speak on Church property, and his alleged rescue is about to fail to materialize, with less than eight weeks remaining in 2017, how can anyone, except a delusional kool aid drinker, even entertain this quack? In less than eight weeks I hope and pray Charlie will finally disappear, as he's promised. It's sad so many lost souls have placed their hope in a screwball. Bayside and LTTW come to mind. The next right step is to ignore this fraud, permanently. He was never to be taken seriously, but now he's actually offensive.

Still Bemused said...

To Anonymous above,

I would not count on Charlie disappearing at the end of 2017. For one thing, we recently learned that "...when heavenly beings use normal language, they are playful with it. Their use of language seamlessly incorporates plain speech, figurative speech, symbolic images, double meanings and layers of meaning." As such, the "failed" presidential prophecy may be because Charlie neglected to take this aspect of angelic communication into account when he formulated his prophecy. Second, we also recently learned that the rescue may not be a singular event but is in fact a "process" which might mean it may extend beyond 12/31/2017. So don't look for Mayberry RFD on January 1. And finally, Charlie said his term of service will not be over until July 2018.

The events unfolding described in the links below, if true, could very well further divide this country and fulfill Charlie’s prophecy.

Rich, although I have, privately, been sent similar links to the ones you included with your comment, I cannot include any of yours or mine here. They are, at this point, rumor. In fact, the ones I saw previous to these you have been following told of the arrest of one of the Podesta brothers this weekend with the pending arrest of HRC to be occurring on Monday. And this was all over the internet with alternative news sources. But it didn’t happen as it was believed it had and would.
I, too, deeply sense a crumbling to occur at any time. Exactly how it will all come down is yet in the domain of God’s Plan imbued with His Providence. Surely, as Charlie has written that ALL is being revealed, I fully expect the evil that has prevailed in DC to be unmasked. And, like you, I think all h-e-double hockey sticks will break loose because the elite powers-that-be will not just roll over and take it lying down. Oh No. Mayhem will ensue.
God bless us one and all. May He remind us of all that is fostered here in the core message. May that especially be so should we be cut off from communicating for a period of time. May we ever follow Him, step by blessed step, as so many sherpas in the wilderness of what lies before us. We CAN do this. We can do ALL things in Him Who is our Strength.

@Anon 3:09, Still Bemused is right. Charlie's "term of service" is up on July 5, 2018, the day after Independence Day. Not surprising that the "angel" picked the day after the most patriotic day of the year for Charlie to retire. This is the same guy who wants a Patriot Football League, whatever that is, after all.

Whether Charlie finds a way to stretch his "service" past July 2018 and into 2019 and beyond is anyone's guess, but he may find a way. His rationalizing his return in August doesn't make sense, but it doesn't to anyone who isn't a Tea Party patriot like he is.

What is true is that their *authority* was passed on to the bishops. The Apostles were unique in that the sum and substance of Revelation was given only to them and there are no new revelations since the death of the last Apostle.

As much as I️ want to believe in the Rescue coming before the end of 2017, I️ have reason to question as all of the events that have to precede the Rescue have not yet materialized? Like the Economic Collapse for at least a period of 3 to 6 months, the further turmoil in the East with China AND Russia , Iran and N Korea, etc? And the appearance that things will appear hopeless? With one month to go? Do you still believe that the Rescue is to come before the end of this year where we will see and hear Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception?

Jane, please read this reply written today. I’m going to assume you may not be a regular reader. The Rescue is not an endpoint. The Rescue is a great gift in this transition into the Era of Peace promised by Our Lady of Fatima. But, as Charlie has conveyed, we will get to that Era by way of the Cross. After the Rescue, there will be many more interventions and actions by the Lord in His Perfect Plan in which He Alone knows how all will unfold. We remain here at TNRS for the duration of need to build each other up as we travel, in solidarity, through this Time like no other in salvation history. Blessed be God in ALL His Ways and Decisions for us! Ave Maria eternally for a Mother who never leaves her children!

So I ask myself: How did I run so far astray from what I am called to be as a Catholic/Christian? I ponder this often. God's ways are so far above my ways that I don't think there is any way to measure it. No problem. I am called to love as Christ loves, and I'm o.k with not knowing anything beyond that Love. The rest of this stuff just gets in the way. So I simply leave it all behind me.

Interesting exchange on TNRS between PhillipT and Beckita:

Is Charlie Johnston still predicting a world war with the US and Russia against China? Donald Trump just visited China and they rolled out the red carpet for him, complete with a 21 gun salute which is something China has NEVER done for a US president. We also see the warm relations between President Trump and President Xi when President Trump’s granddaughter Arabell was singing to President Xi and his wife who the granddaughter calls Grandpa Xi and Grandma Peng. Might this be an example of a false dawn that Charlie predicted? It does not appear that Charlie’s prophecy of a war with China will happen, at least not in the next 6 weeks. Thank you.

Hi PhillipT. Right with you in pondering the observations and questions you pose here. We are in good company, for Our Lady pondered in her heart when she could not comprehend the full implications of all that was revealed to her. Since Charlie’s return to the site, in his writings and in his podcasts, he has reiterated: the Plan of how everything will unfold is in God’s Domain. Of course, it always has been. Our questions must be pondered with the background of this piece, perhaps the most foundational for understanding how God has chosen to use His servant, Charlie. Linear is good and holy. Certainly it is a God-given, God-ordained dimension of His works. Nevertheless, in the fullness of His Mind and Sight and Ways, multidimensional realities exist… and do so in ways far, far beyond our puny ways of knowing, seeing and understanding. Truth is, even in our Heavenly bliss we’ll never ever know as He Knows or understand as He Understands. In this piece to which I’ve linked, Charlie said: “Many seem to think interpretation of prophecy is simply getting the narrative right, then charting it two-dimensionally. The foolishness of this reminds me of the ancient fable of the six blind men and the elephant.”

Mystical language and visions often have either a literal OR metaphorical meaning AND could have BOTH literal and metaphorical meaning. This is not to confuse us. I have come to understand, most often, it reminds us: we.are.not.God. Our Lord certainly wants to get our attention; he is alerting us, as He has throughout salvation history – and in these end times, His Own Mother is the preeminent prophetess – that He’s about to move in powerful ways, in order to provide opportunities to bring us back to Him and His Covenant He made with us. These mystical messages also bring clearly to our minds remembrance of God’s Infinite Goodness blessing His people throughout history.

Charlie was dead serious whenever he has remarked that these heavenly communications demand not only reception of input, but also interpretation. The best of those with expertise in Mariology and mystical theology, whom I know personally or whose works I have read, resoundingly concur with Charlie’s statements to us concerning this truth. Add to this, the incredible training which Charlie has received his whole life long. And he has conveyed that after the inaugural error, further training ensued. All of this is to say, yes Phillip, the interactions between Trump and Xi could be a false dawn. But whether or not the war starts soon or a little later, we do not know. What e.x.a.c.t.l.y. Charlie knows is between him and God and Charlie’s visitors who help CJ in his tasks, ordained by God for Charlie to fulfill.

Phillip, I also note when surveying the entire world, we see breakdown of order with chaos, confusion and division pervasive on the entire planet. So, I ponder, too, beyond the broad sweep of things Charlie has told us, what has been mitigated and what new interventions or circumstances the God of Surprises will interject. Finally, after gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, customs and history, including personal experiences and encounters in the land of China – blessed with nearly a hundred Chinese godchildren at whose baptisms I attended – everything could flip in an instant and we would find ourselves facing a serious conflict with the Chinese.

Our entire world is riddled with deception, corruption, confusion, and sin-based laws in its variety of governments. A veritable tinder box on the verge of being ignited. No. I don’t wish it or relish this thought. I am not afraid and this great work of the TNRS blog begun by God’s Grace through, with and in Charlie, has played a HUUUUUUUUUUGE role in sealing my resolve to TRUST, BELIEVE and HOPE in the Goodness of God, even when all seems lost. And we will reach that point, to its depths, for each of us. And the way out of the depths will ever be GOD, so the core message: Acknowledge God, take the next right step and be a sign of hope to those around us will be the way to see us through whatever is to come. In the meanwhile, with rosaries in hand and time spent with Eucharistic Jesus, we will please God to no end by praying for the souls so precious to our Triune God and His Mother. God bless you, Phillip.

The original post was some weirdness attributed to Charles Krauthammer about Obama and something called OFA.

Sperry writes that, “The ex-president is setting up a shadow government to sabotage the Trump administration through a network of non-profits led by OFA, which is growing its war chest (more than $40 million) and has some 250 offices nationwide.

Then Beckita steps in to save face after someone posts, this is fake news:

Thanks for these links, Sapperdepitjes. My bad. I should have carefully vetted the source. Here are some actual Krauthammer links. They discuss Krauthammer’s observations concerning Obama’s intended acts to cause serious problems for President Trump. One is here. Another here.

Egg on face. Seriously though, if they'd stop being so credulous with alternative and alt-right news "sources", this wouldn't happen.

L Spinelli said...

Oh good grief. It bears repeating, again, that both the Presidential Prophecy and the Rescue itself were presented to Charlie without ANY NEED for interpretation.

They were supposed to happen the way the "angel" talked about them. One already bombed, and the other seems well on its way with just 48 days left in 2017...

Anonymous at 6:10 pm,

Play the role of a gadfly all you like, but if so, why are you following this thread or the TNRS thread? Creating a bandwagon of the prideful, out of whole cloth, is still straw-man fallacy, even if you deign self deprecation by rhetorically placing yourself in it.

When you point to the sin of pride, and then say: --begin quoted text--The same thing that motivates me to comment when I don't really have to.--end quoted text, the irony is so thick that one could cut it with a dull butterknife.

You then follow with: --begin quoted text--I find myself eye-rolling often lately on both sides of this discussion.--end quoted text. Excuse me, but eye-rolling is a sign of contempt, which, in polite society, is a reaction justly characterized as less than charitable, less than Catholic.

Then you finish with: --begin quoted text--I am called to love as Christ loves, and I'm o.k with not knowing anything beyond that Love. The rest of this stuff just gets in the way. So I simply leave it all behind me.--end quoted text. Ahem, clearly you have not left it all behind you if you are still reading TNRS and reading this thread, and engaging in eye-rolling commentary - which I doubt qualifies as loving as Christ loves.

In charity, while I will pray for you, I will also pray that you actually act on the claim of "leaving it all behind you" and respectfully request you stop commenting on this thread when you "don't really have to," lest you fall into another rhetorical trick bag of the judgement of others of the sin of pride.

We are here in the interest of discernment, which necessarily involves testing the words of CJ, the self-proclaimed prophet, who is on record repeatedly asserting a false "locution" - the Obama will not finish his term "locution" - and attributing that false locution to God (now euphemistically recharacterized by CJ as a misinterpretation and by CJ's followers as the "inaugural error") and who is now on record claiming additional "training/instructions" since inauguration day. Apparently part of the resurgence of CJ blogging again (against his own promise of "honor" to cease) includes new dubious assertions, such as the notion that we will still be visibly "rescued" before the end of this calendar year, but that the great "conflict with China," which in CJ's theory requires us to engage in an alliance with Russia in order to survive it, may not come about until sometime next year. This assertion is not accompanied by any rationale for why a "Marian rescue" occuring in 2017 will be effectively a false dawn in advance of a nasty conflict with China (at some point during which we will all "lose all hope", even CJ). That I discern this as bizarre goal post moving (special pleading fallacy) is an observation derived from a sober reading of CJ's statements. Call me prideful or cynical if you like, but I say, not so; rather, it is simply my attempt to point out to other discerners that incorrigible gullibility is required to accept CJ's assertions at face value. A self-appointed "prohet's" claimed locutions matter, and what that so-called "prophet" says about those claimed locutions also matters.

I hope that all of you here might heed the words of hope from Charlie and his friends. This is a guest post by Philip Frank:

A young mother from our church was asking me about how to keep her children pure in these times. She was frustrated at the thought that her daughters would make the same mistakes she had when she was young and would end unhappy like she was as a single parent raising two children in this crazy, messed up world. I told her that no matter how hard she tried, temptations of the world would find them and they would then choose to follow the righteousness they were taught or the world. Proverbs 22:6 says to “train up a child in the ways of God and they will return to it when they are old.”

In her fear of how to keep her children safe and not really knowing how to accomplish it, I reminded her that Jesus told His disciples that for man alone salvation is impossible but with God all things are possible. (Matt 9:26) Despite her weak efforts, God would make sufficient what she lacked. Further, I said she needed to TRUST God and release her worry to hope, then train up her children to the best of her ability and live a good life as a witness to them, then, God would make sufficient her weakness (My grace is sufficient) for in weakness (our acceptance that God is really in charge) we (He) are strong. When Jesus told those He cured “your faith healed you” He was referring to the fact that they “relented” their will to Him and opened themselves to trust Him. Faith leads to hope (trust) then to love which is eternal (heaven). We reach into eternity (heaven) when we do the will of God (thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven). Love, then, casts out all fear as our faith, hope and love stabilize us in this world gone mad.

When Jesus washed the feet of the apostles, He was taking a position of the least among them, despite being their leader, to help them realize humility (for I am meek and humble of heart). It was the enemy who sowed the temptation in us to “be someone” but Jesus came and took the lowest possible position among us – a slave. “Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave.” (Phil 2:7) He did this to bring us back to the realization that we are children… His children! And that, like children, obedience, trust and not worrying are the correct behavior of a child of God.

Yes, I was moved by the story of the single mom trying to raise two young children. Certainly she needed hope! It reminded me of this earlier post, from several pages back, concerning Charlie and how he operated in a real-life situation when hope was required. It's a sad story too...

From the Antioch News-Reporter, March 2, 1990 of Antioch, IL. This is the “Politically Speaking:” column:

Although the list of former general assistance recipients is closed in Libertyville and other townships, those in Avon Twp. remember one particularly sad case.

It happened in December 1987 and January 1988. A mother of two was down on her luck. The rent was due. Her husband had left her for another woman. The electricity had been turned off for non-payment. She and her mother turned to Avon Twp.

She was given $100 to help meet the month’s rent. The Community Action Program helped pay the past due electric bill so Com Ed could turn the lights on. More help would have been forthcoming if the mother had not been too embarrassed to apply for food stamps.

Today the mother, Carrie Johnston, is making it on her own.

So is the ex-husband. He wants to make it big as a Dist. 4 County Board member in the Tuesday, March 20, primary. His name is Charles Johnston.

The tragedy of this life is that we all suffer. That is our lot from the Fall of Adam and Eve and a combined condition of humanity’s spiritual link to one another as the Body of Christ. But we also gain through this Body. Just like a physical body that profits as a whole from good nutrition, rest and peace of mind, the Body of Christ gains merit, goodness and even physical relief by the good acts of its members. We must be prepared to give “reasons for your hope.” (1 Peter 13:15) And to do so “in season and out of season.“(2 Tim 4:2).No good deed goes unrewarded just as no evil deed goes unpunished. We, who are in the “know” of God’s grace and goodness, carry much responsibility for the good which comes into the world. We are like dikes that allow water to flow into a desert. When we are open, much flows through us to green up the parched lands. But when we are closed, the earth is dry and barren. If we, who then receive so much, refuse to open ourselves to the life-giving graces which can flow through us by our “prayers, works, joys and sufferings” and, instead, become too attached to something or someone or shy away from the sufferings God sends us or if we are spiritually lazy, we should not be surprised when everything around us is turning to dust!
What is most acceptable to God are acts that involve no self-interest, whatsoever, and that we do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. Actions done solely out of love for God are sacred deeds that bring eternal blessings. “So you also, when you shall have done all these things that are commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do.” (Luke 17:10) As God is whole and complete (“I am the beginning and the end.” (Rev 22:13), we profit Him nothing by our existence and are incapable of loving Him as He truly deserves. But He gave us each other (His Mystical Body) to fulfill that which cannot be fulfilled for us by Him – “love one another, as I have loved you;” ” and forgive us as we forgive those who trespass against us.” “See how they love one another.” “For the sake of the body of Christ, they complete what is still lacking in His afflictions.” (Col 1:24)
So for the sake of the Body of Christ, we must remain OPEN in these times to allow God His chance to save as many souls as He can. We must not “ refuse to pay attention, and turn a stubborn shoulder and stop our ears from hearing.“(Zech 7:11) when it is hard to forgive and forget. I see a great division among those of us professing faith and those opposed to it. We must be mindful, always, that we, too, are worthy of death because of our sinfulness and are saved from this fate by God Himself. “Therefore, you are without excuse, every one of you who passes judgment. For by the standard by which you judge another you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the very same things.” (Rom 2:1) We are to pity and love our enemies and pray for their salvation, realizing that but for the grace of God, we would be just like them and we actually are just like them in many ways. The mystery of why God allowed the enemy to dwell among us has always troubled me but the parable of the wheat and the weeds (Matt 13:24) has given me insight into how Our Lord expects those of us who are “in the world but not of the world” to bring light to His people. God allows sinners to dwell alongside His faithful ones, not to punish them, but to bring light into the darkness. It is we, His faithful, who are to be a sign of contradiction to the weeds. As our “roots” grow entangled among the weeds, we may pull some of them up and out of perdition along with us when the harvester brings us home.

Anonymous said...

Being a sign of hope is to be that chance encounter with someone who needs a chance. Growing alongside the weeds, we learn to love and care for them despite their offenses and if they don’t pray, we can pray in their stead. They, in turn, learn to love and care for us… and will recognize God dwelling in us. St. Faustina, in her diary, Divine Mercy in My Soul, captures this relationship importance. “Although a sinful person is at the point of death, the merciful God gives the soul that interior vivid moment, so that if the soul is willing, it has the possibility of returning to God thus making use of all the prayers that other souls offer to God for them.”
Jesus set His eyes on the goal, was not put to shame and felt joy in what He was accomplishing by the cross. Despite the great suffering He was going through, He experienced joy in its accomplishment, a parallel which we can ourselves feel as we suffer the Storm and await the Rescue with its light already piercing the darkness. Our own Francesca here at TNRS feels this distinction: “Fortunately we walk by faith and not by sight, and so the prayers of God’s people, our Guardian Angels, the tender embrace of our Immaculate Mother, and the hope to see Jesus brings needed mercy, and I do not despair, although despair is all I can feel.” She does not despair because she has replaced it with trust and hope which she does not “feel” but “believes” through her faith. Here people, is a sign of contradiction and a true disciple of TNRS. She becomes a “sign of hope” herself when she practices what she preaches. And with the Storm, God has given us ample chance to practice!
I see the parable of the workers (Matt 20:1-16) like this: The land owner hires the workers to work his vineyard. The first to be hired, work all day (their entire lives) to fulfill the job given them by the land owner (God). But God, loving all humanity, sees those standing around in the market place (the world) doing nothing (not tending to what they were created to be) and asks them to join those who are already working (the faithful) and offers to pay them what is right (eternal life). This story has two lessons for me. First, God is “generous” with His love and salvation. He makes the point that those who worked the longest in His vineyard “deserve” the pay agreed upon but, because of His generosity, He can also give those who do not “deserve” it the same. He makes the point that it is none of our business what He does with His money (grace) despite our “jealousy” of His mercy and love for those we think do not “deserve” it! He makes the point that the work does not actually give us salvation but His generosity does. So the second lesson is this: despite our ideas on who deserves to go to heaven or not, God will, in the end, save us all if we, even at the last moment, “agree” to work in His vineyard. “God’s mercy sometimes touches the sinner at the last moment in a wondrous and mysterious way. Outwardly, it seems as if everything were lost, but it is not so. The soul, illumined by a ray of God’s powerful final grace, turns to God in the last moment with such a power of love that, in an instant, it receives from God forgiveness of sin and punishment.” (St. Faustina) For this soul the “work” is its final “turning to God” and then God’s grace “is sufficient” for it to receive the “day’s pay” of eternal life. Thus, we all enter heaven on equal ground, not because of our labors’ equality, but because of our God’s mercy and love for His children. This is why “the first will be last and the last will be first.” We do not go into heaven in a straight line, first to last, but all together at once as a single unit, as the Body of Christ!

Pope Francis is calling us all to be evangelizers, so don't waste time worrying about Charlie Johnston. Go out there and preach the Gospel instead!

From Joy of the Gospel

111. Evangelization is the task of the Church. The Church, as the agent of evangelization, is more than an organic and hierarchical institution; she is first and foremost a people advancing on its pilgrim way towards God. She is certainly a mystery rooted in the Trinity, yet she exists concretely in history as a people of pilgrims and evangelizers, transcending any institutional expression, however necessary. I would like to dwell briefly on this way of understanding the Church, whose ultimate foundation is in the free and gracious initiative of God.

A people for everyone

112. The salvation which God offers us is the work of his mercy. No human efforts, however good they may be, can enable us to merit so great a gift. God, by his sheer grace, draws us to himself and makes us one with him.[79] He sends his Spirit into our hearts to make us his children, transforming us and enabling us to respond to his love by our lives. The Church is sent by Jesus Christ as the sacrament of the salvation offered by God.[80] Through her evangelizing activity, she cooperates as an instrument of that divine grace which works unceasingly and inscrutably. Benedict XVI put it nicely at the beginning of the Synod’s reflections: “It is important always to know that the first word, the true initiative, the true activity comes from God and only by inserting ourselves into the divine initiative, only begging for this divine initiative, shall we too be able to become – with him and in him – evangelizers”.[81] This principle of the primacy of grace must be a beacon which constantly illuminates our reflections on evangelization.

113. The salvation which God has wrought, and the Church joyfully proclaims, is for everyone.[82] God has found a way to unite himself to every human being in every age. He has chosen to call them together as a people and not as isolated individuals.[83] No one is saved by himself or herself, individually, or by his or her own efforts. God attracts us by taking into account the complex interweaving of personal relationships entailed in the life of a human community. This people which God has chosen and called is the Church. Jesus did not tell the apostles to form an exclusive and elite group. He said: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28:19). Saint Paul tells us in the people of God, in the Church, “there is neither Jew or Greek... for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:28). To those who feel far from God and the Church, to all those who are fearful or indifferent, I would like to say this: the Lord, with great respect and love, is also calling you to be a part of his people!

114. Being Church means being God’s people, in accordance with the great plan of his fatherly love. This means that we are to be God’s leaven in the midst of humanity. It means proclaiming and bringing God’s salvation into our world, which often goes astray and needs to be encouraged, given hope and strengthened on the way. The Church must be a place of mercy freely given, where everyone can feel welcomed, loved, forgiven and encouraged to live the good life of the Gospel.

That story about Charlie was libelous, and in fact he sued about it and won.

So why are you repeating libel and slander, which has been disproven?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous at 5:27,

I know no such thing. Apparently back in the day Charlie sued a newspaper - which very shortly before had employed him - and settled out of court for a pretty small amount. You have no evidence at all this particular article was involved. There is no printed retraction online. The article remains publicly available.

I suspect Charlie would have demanded the newspaper remove it from their website if what you say is true. He hasn't. Why not?

Anonymous said...

Question for Charlie followers who are here. Why is Charlie touring California now that it's cold weather. Do the California people need heartening more than people in a place where there's suffering like Puerto Rico?

What kind of Sherpa is he if he's not on the front lines helping out, he must be like Obama who said he led from behind.

Charlie didn't help people with hurricane relief in Houston or Florida. He stayed far away where he was safe.

Ask him when he's going to do something for somebody besides Charlie, Charlie followers. This last tour before "the Rescue" looks like an excuse to pack in free travel, food and lodging.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous, this is what Charlie wrote about his libel suit. In another place he also wrote more details about his wife and how false accusations were made about him in this matter. When I find that I can post it.
About it being online, the newspaper group no longer exists. Archives of various newspapers are freely available on the internet, and as to why Charlie doesn't pursue getting it taken down, ask him.

"A little over two decades ago, an Illinois newspaper chain decided it was going to destroy me to elevate the slate of candidates it preferred. In most jurisdictions, it is brutally hard for someone who is classified as a “public figure” to win a libel judgment. Illinois at the time was the toughest. To prove libel there, you had to prove that the publication had shown extreme reckless disregard of the facts AND their allegation must, at some point, falsely accuse the person of a crime. Otherwise, they could merrily tell any lies they want about a “public figure.” Their nearly year-long campaign did some damage to me, but it was not getting quite the traction they hoped. So they got more and more frantic. Finally, they accidentally stepped into an area that would have made me guilty of a misdemeanor, if true. That opened the door. They thought they were very clever by avoiding any allegations that were criminal, but once they unintentionally opened the door, all their provably false non-criminal accusations became evidence of actual malice on their part. Their refusal to ever call me to get my response became evidence of reckless disregard of the facts. Once their Chicago attorney finished his day-long deposition of me and found I would not crumble on the witness stand, they almost immediately began settlement offers.

As I noted in a comment, that newspaper group no longer exists. It was not the $24,000 settlement and apology that did them in, but their skyrocketing libel insurance rates that took a heavy toll. Publications do NOT settle libel suits with public figures unless they are forced to, for the nuisance suits that would follow would bankrupt them. My attorney told me I was only the third public figure in a decade to prevail in such a suit in Illinois."

Anonymous said...

Anonymous at 6:18, you're so ridiculous. It's not possible for any one person to do all the good there is to do. What each one does is up to each person to discern with God's help.
Spiritual heartening can be more important and needed than physical help at times.
And if you want to hurl these accusations at Charlie, then what about yourself? Have you gone to Puerto Rico or Africa or the Middle East or wherever people are suffering?
If you're judging people on that basis, you might want to do something yourself. Or are you only looking for things to accuse Charlie of?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous at 8:07,

Charlie is wrong about putting the newspaper group out of business just as he is wrong on so many other things. It was Lakeland Publishers in Illinois, and Charlie's big suit didn't really do much.

According to Bloomberg, Lakeland Media is the current incarnation of Lakeland Publishers. The company existed under the "Publishers" name from its founding in 1956 through at least December 2005, when it became a subsidiary of Shaw Media. Per the Illinois Newspaper Project at the University of Illinois, this was indeed the same company that published the Antioch News.

So, the newspaper group survived albeit in altered form through a period of dramatic downsizing in the news business, and continues today. As Charlie might say, Get your facts right.

I don't buy many of Charlie's stories about his past, by the way. I don't believe his claim federal agents kept close tabs on him throughout the years. I don't believe he stopped a bank robbery in progress, or rescued a family from a car fire in front of a MacDonald's. I don't believe highly placed officials attend his public talks for the chance to get valuable insight from him. I don't believe his story of his walking pilgrimage. Blogger Kevin O'Brien wrote a pretty persuasive piece taking that claim apart.

What I do believe is everyone should pay attention to what Archbishop Aquila said through a spokeswoman. Charlie's visions of 2016-2017 are inaccurate. Catholics should not condone them (plural visions) and should not attempt to reinterpret them to make them appear correct. Look to Scripture for answers, not to a fly-by-night internet prophet.

Excellent question.

So, correct me if I'm mistaken, Charlie Johnston is forging ahead, even if NOTHING happens at the end of 2017? OK, so even after every single false prediction has petered out, including the promised, so-called rescue in late 2017, Charlie Johnston is still planning to continue to peddle his nonsense.

@Anon from 6:18 PM yesterday, the point was if Charlie has free time to travel in California and the Southwest, he could easily have gone to Houston or Florida.

His kids are grown, he's single, and he has nothing holding him back, unlike most people, who have spouses, kids, jobs, homes and other life commitments.

Charlie Johnston claims an angel ahs been and still is giving him visionary messages that are patently absurd. Charlie also claimed he walked across the United States, that a cataclysm he calls 'The Storm' and 'The Rescue' are coming, the dates of which he keeps changing, that Obama wouldn't finish his term, and the next national leader wouldn't come from the normal political process. Well, the Presidential prophecy tanked, charlie. Additionally, world wide civil war, complete societal breakdown, war with China, allegiance with Russia, mass conversion of the Muslims, and a total, visible rescue will all occur in less than seven weeks. Really?

There are a ton of Devout Catholics who, for whatever sick reason, ARE ACTUALLY BELIEVING HIM! This is the truly scary part. When the ball drops on New Year's eve in Times Square on January 1, 2018, what will his cult members do? Spin and praise Charlie. Why? Because they are a cult. Facts are irrelevant. It's sad to witness. He's long past irrelevant. He's now evolved into a cult leader, and therefore, he's become dangerous.

PRESS RELEASE:
Feb. 15, 2017
Contact: Karna Swanson
Executive Director of Communications

Karna.Swanson@ArchDen.org

Mrs. Beckie Hesse, using the online profile “Beckita,” stated in a Feb. 7, 2017 blog post titled “The RESCUE Has Begun” that the messages of the alleged visionary Mr. Charlie Johnston, who resides in the Archdiocese of Denver, “have been fully approved by the Church.” In order to ensure that the faithful are correctly informed, it is necessary to publicly state that Mrs. Hesse’s claim is FALSE.

In fact, Mr. Johnston’s alleged messages were reviewed by an archdiocesan theological commission and Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila determined that the faithful should be warned to be prudent and cautious about Mr. Johnston’s predictions. In addition, Mr. Johnston is NOT permitted to speak in Church-owned venues in the Archdiocese of Denver.

The events of 2016/17 have shown that Mr. Johnston’s alleged visions were NOT accurate and the Archdiocese urges the faithful not to condone or support further attempts to reinterpret them as valid.

QED. Take the next right step & drop this fraud.

Never mind mass shootings, terrorist attacks, North Korea...
All that is nothing. It's CHARLIE JOHNSTON who's the real enemy of the people! He goes around telling people to trust God, take the next right step, and be a sign of hope to others. That's just soooooooo terrible!

L Spinelli said...

@Anon above, nothing Charlie does would be up for criticism if Charlie didn't have this little habit of always wanting to draw attention to himself. None of the saints did that.

Anonymous said...

Clever enough, but not terribly.

No Charlie is not a mass murderer! But, he IS a cult leader. NOBODY NEEDS HIM TO TELL US TO BELIEVE IN GOD AND SHOW CHARITY TO OTHERS. JESUS ALREADY SAID SO. But, he's a proven fraud & liar, who's promoting his cult, despite having been totally wrong in every single prophecy, and having been clearly denounced by two separate Catholic Bishops - and forbidden to speak on Church property. He spins, demonizes his opponents, and has a 100 percent record of failed prophecies. Th next right step is to dump him into the dust bin of history. He's had his fifteen minutes of, most undeserved, fame.

I have one question. 2018 will be here in less than seven weeks. When the so called "rescue" doesn't happen by the e.o. 2017, and we all know it's absurd, will Mr. Johnston stop his nonsense and dispband his cult / blog?

Did it ever occur to anyone that this man has been conversing with a demon, who's playing him like a grand piano? The demon is simply feeding his huge ego and unfulfilled life needs. The entire point is that when thing fail, as all of Charlie's have, some people, especially Catholics, may well lose faith in all things prophetic. Complete demonic deception. GET CATHOLICS TO ABANDON ALL THINGS PROPHETIC. Am I the only one seeing this?

No, it's the other things he does. He attempts to track down "enemies," humiliate them online and/or intimidate them. Here's one example. I've XX'd out the young man's name, which Charlie used. There's also a gratuitous comment from Marie Ursula, aka "Sister Bear," who is not a real nun, merely the foundress of her own, unofficial order.

I was initially going to delete this, but I figured it might be useful for you to see some of the garbage that comes in. In this case, it comes from prestigious school in New England. The young man is in college in the east. I got enough info to verify that it almost certainly does not come from a staff member. If it did, my actions would be different. It comes from a student. Amateurs have no idea how much information I can get from a submission, even when they label it anonymous or use a phony email address. I know his full name, but I will only use his first name, XXX – or, XX as he likes to be called. And he has a birthday coming up in a little over a week. I know quite a bit more about the young man, but I won’t mention it, for I don’t want to give strangers any real clues to his identity. I just give away enough so that he knows I know. And XX, if I could glean this much from your “anonymous” posting, imagine what I could have gotten if you had not been “anonymous.” You snowflakes on campus are not ready for the big leagues – so complain to your dean about my micro-aggression and stick to the sandbox.

I get stuff like that sometimes, Sr. Bear. Usually I just delete it. But I weary sometimes of these snowflakes thinking my good nature indicates that I am easily intimidated and rolled. This time I decided to send a warning shot. Politicians in the Midwest who used to try to play me are grinning right now; many found to their sorrow when they tried to muscle me that that stuff don’t play with me. The snowflakes should stick to their snowboards – and actually learn a little something before seeking a seat at the grownups table.

It's been a mystery to me how Charlie and other groups of fact-challenged people manage to stick together in the bright light of the truth that surrounds them. David Brooks of the New York Times sheds some light on how and why this happens. Read on:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/13/opinion/roy-moore-conservative-evangelicals.html

By the way, I read all media with my eyes wide open. You even have to be careful reading the Bible so as to understand the message the words are imparting.

Hey Fred,

I read the Brooks article you linked regarding seige mentality. The first thought that came to my mind in response to Mr. Brooks was a line of Cromwell's character in A Man for All Seasons: "You've only now just noticed?"

Seriously, it took a seminar conversation at the Faith Angle Fourum for Brooks to figure out that seige mentality is a vehicle that causes division? Goodness, politicians have been using fearmongering/seige mentality as their path to power since the dawn of time.

The piece overall was classic Brooks - always attempting to triangulate on the issues of the day (meaning: he casts aspersions on both sides of the political divide, to make himself appear virtuous and above the fray).

He also fails to make a key distinction. Sometimes, a group really is under seige - e.g., when the full weight of the federal government is brought to bear (via regulations which have the effect of law) upon all Christian-minded employers that they must pay for abortifacients for their employees, or else pay confiscatory fines, or, in refusing to pay fines, be prosecuted and put in jail, or else close down voluntarily. Thankfully the Little Sisters of the Poor stood fast against that, but the federal regulations didn't affect just them. All believing Christians were being threatened to violate what is a sacred part of their lives.

Because he fails to make any distinctions, Brooks unwittingly draws a moral equivalency between all opposing forces - ergo - they're all bad for using seige mentality to obtain political power. To this I apply the "so what" test. Brooks can complain all day long that the seige mentality led to Trump's election (and he clearly thinks this was a result that is "bad for the country"). But Trump's election was not "bad" for the Little Sisters of the Poor and the other litigants on that issue. If he hadn't been elected, they'd all still be on the Supreme Court docket. And if the replacement justice for Scalia's vacancy had been appointed by Hillary Clinton, it is highly likely they all would have lost their cases - which no doubt would have led to the Little Sisters shutting down their operations in the U.S.

Brooks' final paragraphs make a mild reference to all this - but in the context of gay marriage - and suggests that a more conversational approach by Obama would have served us all much better. Indeed. That would have worked much better for the Little Sisters of the Poor as well, and in fact, such an approach was promised by Obama at Notre Dame's 2009 commencement with respect to abortifacients. But the actions turned out to be different than the words. I'm sorry, but Brooks is a lightweight in terms of critical thinking.

Every single one of Charlie Johnstpn's prophecies has tanked thus far. I agree with the two above posters regarding the fact that Charlie is speaking to an angel - a fallen angel. The goal may well be to propagate, via Charlie Johnston, false predictions, which would certainly fail. This would serve to confuse devout Catholics and, more importantly, cause some faithful Catholics to doubt ALL prophecy, past and present. This may well be the ultimate goal. Duping Charlie via appealing to his pretty big ego may have been simply an easy mechanism to accomplish the sowing of doubt in many people's minds regarding anything prophetic. That may well be the evil goal. Charlie is simply the misled messenger. Miracles happen today just as frequently as in Jesus' time. Eucharistic miracles, incorruptible bodies of saints, and unexplained medical cures are a few examples. The priests who were TOTALLY UNHARMED, suffering no evidence of even slight radiation sickness, after having been at ground zero during one of the atomic blasts in Japan in 1945 also comes to mind. Charlie is being used to undermine all of these real events!

Fred Keyes said...

We think alike on a lot of what you say Jack. But as the joke goes you can be paranoid while someone clearly *is* out to get you. That doesn't mean that paranoia isn't a genuine psychological disorder.

Brooks? He's a columnist for a paper that tilts liberal. He scores points; he can rationalize the entire liberal agenda as can every columnist from both sides of the aisle. My eyes are wide open.

I don't agree *in toto* with the political philosophies of either conservatives or liberals in this country. I've joined the American Independent Party--the only group that I can fully support. Probably too Catholic to succeed unfortunately.

Fred Keyes said...

I have to say—in line with the siege mentality that fringe groups develop—this thread probably doesn't help with respect to lessening their anxiety.

It remains important to oppose error and declare the truth, but it's possible to become so contrary in attitude that the opposition refuses to listen and withdraws into an impenetrable tortoise shell.

I can say I bear Charlie and Co. no ill will and that I pray for him and his followers, but at a certain point my opposition probably appears hollow to them.

It's worth asking myself whether what I'm saying advances the cause of unity or in fact, makes it worse.

Jackisback said...

Understood, Fred. Sorry if what I had to say had the tone of critique toward you. Brooks is pointed to as the conservative on the Times editorial columinist list of regular contributors. That's absurd. His telling us that the seige mentality is something we should all avoid is a bit like CJ telling us to take the next right step.

Perhaps Brooks and CJ should "take a house by the sea together."

Just throwing this out there... CJ is on his FAREWELL TOUR (we hope!) of California. Can't help but wonder why the faithful in Culver City (this week) and Mill Valley (after Thanksgiving) need heartening. Or what these particular choices of venue says about CJ's tastes, and those of his followers.

IF this is what "voluntary poverty" looks like, maybe he'll get more recruits!

(BTW, CJ's hosts in Marin County are looking for an extra $600 to pay off the hall at that country club.)

Zillow/Realtor information,

The median home value in Culver City is $948,500. Culver City home values have gone up 4.7% over the past year and Zillow predicts they will rise 1.4% within the next year. The median list price per square foot in Culver City is $640, which is higher than the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim Metro average of $410.

The median home value in Mill Valley is $1,412,400. Mill Valley home values have declined -1.8% over the past year and Zillow predicts they will rise 0.6% within the next year. The median list price per square foot in Mill Valley is $782, which is higher than the San Francisco Metro average of $457.

It was mentioned Santa Fe is on CJ's schedule. I spent high school years and a couple of college years in Santa Fe. Largely Hispanic, Santa Fe is also very Catholic.

I'm currently reading the diary of Sister Blandina, a Sister of Charity who was recently declared Venerable. She spent most of her religious career in New Mexico and left a permanent mark on that community and the state. A hot ticket that one. She engaged Billy the Kid, for instance, although she was unsuccessful in stopping all of his nefarious activities in the southwest.

She tells anecdotes of her encounters with various traveling preachers who came through town hoping to convert what they considered clueless residents of the town and territory. She made short work of them--dispatched them with kindness and disarming apologetics.

How would Charlie have done with her? Venerable Sister Blandina, pray for us...

In less than six weeks, the so called 'Rescue' won't happen and Charlie Johnston's record of 100% failure will be intact. The Magisterium, via two separate Catholic Bishops, has already spoken, and not favorably, about Mr. Johnston - forbidding him to speak on Church property, AND urging the faithful to exercise extreme caution about his failed predictions. Nothing more is needed. He's had his moment of fame. He really didn't merit it, but now he's had it. He should check his ego, and retire from public discourse.

Rather than posting endlessly and repetitively about CJ on this blog - and that is all it is, a blog, perhaps people could do something more definitive and efficacious such as sending there distress, concerns, information to the authorities in the Church. These people can actually DO something constructive because they have the authority, contacts and power to. Glenn Dallaire on the other hand has no such authority or power.

And no, I am by no stretch of the imagination a follower of CJ, quite the opposite I assure you.

Hello Anon @7:17pm,
Yes, you are very right that I personally have no authority or power in the Church--that is very true and to be honest I quite happy that it is so! I have enough to answer for already in life!

Nevertheless though, I am sure that perhaps you and some on this website would probably be very surprised to know what contributions I have made in all this behind the scenes over the past few years--not officially or earth shattering of course, but a role nonetheless. My position throughout was always that of "wait and see", remaining neutral, and in doing so I was able to obtain, and was given, a good deal of facts and historical information surrounding this matter from various persons, most especially Charlie himself, and also one of his spiritual directors, along with a few others.

At one point I was asked by a certain authority in this matter (note: NOT a diocesan authority) to put together a dossier of facts along with my own opinion, which was presented, and it was later updated and revised, as requested by the same authority. Yet, at this point this is all essentially just history, as the truth is being revealed on its own at this time we are currently in, just as I have said all along "wait and see, the truth will be revealed", and so it is given the point we are at now (that being nearing the end of 2017 in 5 weeks).

As for the suggestion of contacting the diocesan authorities, well, while you and others are certainly free to do so if one so wishes, I don't think it would get any attention or concern whatsoever at this point, as Charlie's time in the spotlight of Catholic circles is waning fast. In other words, its all yesterdays news, and no one is really paying much mind nowadays, given the failed prophecies.

I do thank all who have commented on this subject here on this website over the past few years. There has been quite a few very interesting points brought forth in the discussions.

Thanks for your comment and may God bless you and your loved ones,
Glenn Dallaire

Oh, and one other thing Anon @ 7:17pm, in regards to your suggestion of contacting the Church authorities on this matter, well I can honestly say that I have in fact done my part, as I was in correspondence with one of the priests on the Denver diocesan commission investigating this matter--we corresponded quite a few times concerning this and matters pertaining to it, though if I recall correctly this was just prior to his appointment on the commission.

What is the likelihood that God would give a man a dozen or more prophecies, e.g., economic collapse, no US president, a Regent, Menses, 26 million dead, US and Russia uniting, war with China, conversion of Muslims, world wide civil wars, Christian Churches reuniting, etc., etc., and finally a Rescue in late 2017. And every single one of the prophecies FAILS except the Rescue?

Anonymous said...

Thank you for your comments but my main point does not seem to have been heard. CJ is still causing suffering to others, this needs to be eliminated. This can really only be achieved propoerly through the authorities of the Church. I disagree that reducing/eliminating this suffering is not the “real work” of the Church and that it is not something the Bishops etc need to be bothered with. They thought it was important before and I doubt their understanding of the gravity of the matter is not diminished. Glenn you may have provided information to the Church and thanks for doing that but I think the authorities need to hear from a variety of primary witnesses/informants whereas much of what you would report from this blog/board is second hand. As admitted yourself you have no real authority to do anything. For information to be powerful it needs to be heard and acted on by the right people with the ability to take the appropriate action. You can’t do this.

I am aware that a community has sprung up from this issue on this website and that there are people who are having certain psychosocial needs met through it. Unfortunately some of these needs and their associated behaviours are unhealthy evidenced by the adversarial/defensive tone of several of the posts and the nearly obsessive nature of the attitude of some of the posters. My point is that this may be getting in the way of something eficacious being done about CJ and the harm he has/is doing/done. I am all for discussion about CJ but that it be discussion which leads to a clear positive outcome.

I agree with Anonymous above that if the Bishops would issue a formal and unambiguous ruling against Johnston's predictions, and instruct Charlie to take down his blog, that would put a bow tie on this whole phenomenon and it would end. But I don't see that happening. When have we ever gotten clarity from our Bishops on anything? In my diocese, pro-abortion Catholic politicians receive awards at Jesuit colleges with our Cardinal in attendance. They also receive Holy Communion unchallenged while actively promoting abortion and homosexual marriage. If our Bishops lack the ability to enforce Canon 915 I doubt we'll see a formal statement concerning Charlie Johnston.

Anon @4:15am- "CJ is still causing suffering to others, this needs to be eliminated." The people on Charlie's site are not suffering because of Charlie, they are joyful and growing in trust and love in God our Father! They are praying and trusting in Him and helping each other.
If "you" are suffering due to Charlie and the people who have chosen to remain on his site maybe you need to look at this- maybe ask yourself why?
I believe God allowed all of this go exactly as it did to show each of us who we are, what we are made of, and where we are at with Him (NOT CHARLIE)...and this purely for our own good! God is always good. What do we need to change in ourselves? I know this helped me look at myself and speaking for myself, have received so much good from all of this.
I believe God is giving us the time needed to see our true needs and turn to Him, to grow in love and trust. Do we love and trust God when what we expected fails? Do we trust Him when we do not understand or do we become fearful and get angry and lash out? Are we filled with love, trust and hope or are we filled with pride, anger and judgment? We all need to look at who we are before it is too late. I know I did!
If we are truly with God nothing should disturb us. God rarely works in ways that we understand at the time, later things become more clear but we only see this if we are growing. He is God and He will take care of everything all that matters is whether or not YOU are with Him!
PS- to Anon @6:12am. The squirrel was adopted as a mascot of sorts and we all at TNRS love our squirrels- even though they eat all of my birdseed! Bob posted the picture to give a smile :) I can't even begin to understand why this would bother you? As I said above... we all need to look at ourselves and how we react to things God allows in our lives- even the smallest things.
No one involved in this situation, whether they are for or against Charlie, is involved by mistake, chance, accident... each person was led to this for GOOD... and I think we all need to look at this.
Praying for all of you. God bless and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Snowy Owl, nothing you say about spirituality gives me a problem. It's all good.

The essence of the disgust people here express is sometimes over the top, I will grant you. I urge folks to refrain from casting aspersions. BUT, it all derives from the falsity of Charlie's predictions upon which the whole TNRS movement was founded. The light-hearted back and forth (squirrels, Mayberry, etc.) at TNRS is fine, but given those false predictions, it all leaves a bad taste.

That bad times are coming—both near term and ultimately—is something we faithful, militant Christians always (or should) understand. The readings at Mass over the next couple of weeks contain all the prophecy we need. Including, by the way, the part that warns against listening to false prophets who claim to know when these events will occur. "By their fruits shall you know them"...and false predictions are decidedly not "good fruit."

What appalls us the most is the attempt to excuse the falsities and say that somehow God has changed His mind about things Charlie had said would happen. You will have to do better than expound on nostalgic and spiritual bon mots if you want to have a rational exchange with your detractors.

Glenn Dallaire said...

Well Anonymous, my understanding is that the Archdiocese of Denver is no longer concerned at all in regards to Charlie. The initial concern for them stemmed from back around 2015 when he was generating quite a following, and thus they were receiving quite a few inquiries concerning him.

Nowadays however interest in Charlie has completely plummeted, and so has any real concern in regards to him. I would say that on the Archdioceses top 100 concerns list, not only would Charlie be at the bottom, I doubt at this point he is even be on it. Charlie's moment in the spotlight has swiftly passed, and aside from a handful of followers along with a few critics, the level of interest and concern is essentially nil. And come January 1st the curtain will really be drawn, as all prophecies will have failed at that point.

So, encouraging others to contact the Archdiocese or any other Church authority concerning Charlie is in my opinion a complete waste of time at this point, but sure--folks can certainly do so if they so wish. I just wouldn't expect any concern whatsoever from the Church authorities at this point.

Ah well - putting my face within range of the spitting cobra again - I am back just to support Snowy just to say thank you for her humour, courage, charity and bon mots. As you say Snowy we have a wonderful group of Christian fellowship at TNRS that tolerates different opinions and projections from all sorts of people. What we have in common is that we place our trust entirely in God, not Charlie. although most of us hold him in great affection and high regard. I am forever imposing my faith in Garabandal on the TNRS group and at the same time expressing my caution about prophesy and rescue etc. Yet like Glenn Dallaire I do wait to see what may transpire. I am not at all concerned because my faith in Garabandal will prove sound in God's time. Great saints and Popes have given affirmation to that. As has already been said here, if we live our Catholic Faith we will be saved anyway. Garabandal simply conveys the urgency and makes clearer the closeness of perdition for those who fail to change what needs to be changed.
Like Glenn, I too have been in contact with the Archdiocese but that exchange is between them and me.
I wish all here a Happy Thanksgiving day, A Merry Christmas and a Good New Year.

I had to look up bon mots- honestly, I have never even heard that term before- and was laughing when I read the definition- I don't do witty well...hmm, does that surprise you.? probably not! Haha :)!
You know, I don't see you *imposing* your belief in Garabandal on anyone at all, just talking about it, sharing what you know. I understand what it means to you I feel the same about Medjugorje. I like learning more about this apparition from you and have always believed in Mary's messages there and in Medjugorje!

Hello Snowy,

Thank you for your comments. Do you really think that God would deliberately have Charlie give us one failed prophecy after another as a means to test us? If so, was Bayside, Necedah, LttW, and other false prophets also sent to us by God as part of some test? What about the possibility that Charlie is false, i.e., while he may be well intentioned he has a very creative imagination, has a mental health issue, or the beings that he has been speaking with are not of heaven? Consider that the hallmark of a false prophet is failed prophecies.

Anonymous said...

Bemused,
No. God does not deceive...ever.
Do people misunderstand, misinterpret or confuse things? Yes, people do this. The Bible and the saints show us this, and there are many examples of this. The disciples thought the world would end in their own lifetime because they misunderstood Jesus... and here we are over 2000 years later.
I think you are missing the point I am making in my comments. The better question would be how should I respond to a person who I believe deceived me?
Jesus gave us the answer: 1 John 4 - read the entire chapter, it speaks directly to this, prophecies, enemies and all. There are many others as well. Anyway, that is what I would be asking myself and then I would act accordingly. How you go about this is up to you and between you and God.

Fred Keyes said...

Snowy, the disciples 2000 years ago understood that Jesus was returning "soon." There was no prophecy that was anything as specific and clear as the things Charlie predicted. "Soon" as we now know was a way of keeping us alert at all times. And of course on a personal level "soon" really is soon, especially for those of us of a certain age and anyone really. Life is always tenuous and we are all subject to the call to eternity.

Charlie's prophecies were nowhere near as subtle as what the disciples and were ultimately just wrong, not just mistaken or misinterpreted. And he spends many words preaching the gospel of the alt right or carefully criticizing the Pope Francis's decisions.. Why?

Snowy,

You ask "Do people misunderstand, misinterpret or confuse things?" and I would respond certainly.

For me the question is who has misunderstood, misinterpreted, or confused things? Charlie, or those of us who have read his messages?

Do you really believe Charlie has been in training by angels for 60 years, and that the angels were telling him true messages all along? For example, perhaps the angels actually told Charlie that it would be the 2020 election that will be cancelled, however Charlie misinterpreted that and thought the angels meant the 2016 election? And he pass the false prophecy along to the rest of us. Ditto for all his other time-specific messages, such as war with China, a complete economic collapse and return to a barter system, etc., all occurring before a late 2017 rescue? And if you think that Charlie might have misunderstood his heavenly messengers, despite 60 years of training for this very event, that the angels would then have allowed Charlie to persist in his misunderstanding and pass along false prophecies to his followers?

Or do you think that maybe we, the recipients of Charlie's messages, have misunderstood, misinterpreted, or confused things that Charlie has told us? If so, I'm not sure what it is that we might have confused since it was Charlie who gave us SPECIFIC DATES by which this would all happen and has told us true?

It was only after the messages began to fail that we were then informed that heavenly beings are just being "playful" with all of us, "seamlessly incorporating plain speech, figurative speech, symbolic images, double meanings and layers of meaning." And now some on the TNRS blog tell us (and they go uncorrected) that the rescue will not be a discrete event after all, but rather a process. Come on now, does God play games like this?

On reading 1 John 4, with respect to CJ:
1. Re: false prophets, v4 -5 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
2. Re: CJ's demagoguery/siege mentality, v18-21 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love Him, because He first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from Him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
3. Re: CJ's contempt for “leftists” and his "rescue" locution (BVM playing the role of "savior” of the world, visibly "rescuing” us from a "storm") v6-17: We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.

1 John 4 is problematic for CJ. He writes with contempt, not love, for the politically-left. Note: CJ's blog mostly points not toward confidence in salvation revealed 2,000 years ago - despite worldly "storms" - but toward what “God and Mary will do in late 2017" to resolve worldly “storms.” Consider CJ's interpretational blog of 9/1/2014 From the Father:

…Until today (July 5, 2013), they have continued to use language for the most important messages I am to convey. But now, I am instructed to give you a message from the Father, specifically for America but also for the whole world, that was given me without the use of language. It was not given me directly by the Father, but through His Messenger. In short, I am expected to translate…

...Thus says the Father: "...Now I stay My hand for a time that you may know the bitter fruit of the evil harvest you have sown. It is only for a short season, but the terror and despair will be like none you have ever known before. I send to you My most favored daughter, Mary, the woman cloaked with the sun, to guide and defend you during the terrible pains of birth of the new world I shall give you once more...Defend My honor with the resolve of My Holy and Divine Son at the temple and I will send My most favored daughter to begin the re-conversion of the world. Minister to your brothers and sisters even from the midst of your sorrow and want and, at the moment you think all is lost, I will send My most favored daughter to rescue you once more...After you are rescued this time, when you fall away again, the only respite you will have is the respite of the grave. I sent my Archangel Gabriel to My servant, Charlie, 13 years ago with instructions that he must ‘…tell you true and you must choose or perish.’ Though he, too, is a vain and foolish child, he has been faithful in this and has told you true. Now the time of harvest has arrived and you must choose or perish.”

I think it's kind of funny that Charlie used to chastise some people for not talking about religion but at the same time would have topics about squirrels and now they're talking about a white squirrel?! I guess they have to use something to break the tension.

You have to excuse my ignorance if I'm a little off base about the white squirrel thing as I haven't been on Charlie's site for a while. However, when I last went on his site it appeared that a lot of the topics and discussion were political in nature which was another topic he further chastised people about.

With zero correct prophesies to date ( his streak will be safe by the end of the year ); a caution from the Bishop; squirrels; politics ( no real insight that I can not get somewhere else ); awaiting the arrival of the Blessed Virgin; awaiting the war with China; awaiting the war with North Korea; awaiting the mass conversions of Muslims; best friends with Russia; suing people who disagree with him - why not follow Charlie - he's a good guy.

As said before Steve Fletcher has been wrong on every prediction but people follow him, they don't care, Charlie has been wrong on every prediction, but Charlie's a good guy with a nice catholic website - he's our man.

You can't make this stuff up.

Charlie has just celebrated his "last normal Thanksgiving." He describes his talk at the Daughters of St. Paul of Culver City in his latest missive. It is sad to consider a noble religious order founded to spread the Good News through media has descended to the depths of pushing a failed mystic and con man on gullible Catholics. What would St. Paul say to his lost Daughters? I'd bet anything he is not happy up in Heaven:

I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober. For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming.

Anon Above,

The Last Normal Thanksgiving will be followed by the Last Normal Advent. Then the Last Normal Christmas Again. Then the Last Normal New Year's. Then a long explanation on why we missed the Rescue. If CJ's still touring the country next year, I'll protest the nuns with you:)

Quoting Joe Crozier quoting Charlie Johnston on November 24, 2017:

Hi Tricia:
Your comment induced me to refresh my memory about the Rescue. In the broadcast to which Beckita refers, Charlie reassures us that towards the end of this year, 2017, Our Lady will come and everybody will see her and know that God is, that Jesus Christ is Lord, that Mary is his mother and that Jesus wants us back. Everyone will know all this.

Once again Charlie's feet is to the fire, he doesn't seem too worried.

What will happen when he's wrong again? Again I state Steve Fletcher is wrong again and has never been right, but people believe in him and follow him so it is with Charlie - including these nuns - then again I remember the Sisters of St Joseph building themselves a nice retirement home and when someone asked for their help ( and they had the power to do so ) and it wasn't money, their answer - "we're not a help agency" - so it really doesn't surprise me these other nuns follow Charlie.
